I thought we could try this for the moment. If you've not used Doodle before, you just click the link, add your name and, for this, put a tick against the number of films you've watched so far.

Now you can only Doodle with dates, but if you ignore the fact it's a date and just treat it as 1 - 24 along the top, then choose the one that corresponds to how many of the nominated films you've seen and  I can get a feel for where everyone is in terms of viewing and maybe start thinking about setting the end date for the final vote countdown.

I'm only on 3...

The main reason I've not buckled down and got through them is down to moving out of Uni, and as that's done the remaining bunch should hopefully not take too long.

I'm a quarter through all 24.

Prioritising the stuff I haven't seen, whilst the things I'm pretty familiar with & my Russian entries will be viewed last.

Out of the stuff I haven't seen - Closely Observed Trains, The Saragosa Manuscript, Dartmoor, Festen & Wild Strawberries are the only ones left.

Oh and to those who were worried that Kanal wouldn't make the top 10, there's no chance of that happening on my list.

And if some of you are relying on lovefilm, please seek out the Return by other means. It's a wonderful film & I'd hate for it to miss out on points due to an availability issue.

The offer still stands to provide copies if people need them for the contest - I think I've got them all to hand. I've just had a rather misjudged reorganisation though.

It's on Youtube, so I wouldn't worry. That's one of the ones I'm most looking forward to.

Also, do we have to rewatch our own nominations, considering we can't vote for them?

It's a good point for nominators - they're really only 22. I'll leave the Doodle at 24 though as there's at least one person who's volunteered to watch them all and vote without submitting an entry (ah la Eurovision proper ).

Saragosa Manuscript & Closely Observed Trains arrived today.

Slowly but surely, I'm getting there.

There isn't a closing date yet - the poll is to help try and decide one.

Ahh, awesome. I'll be done in 3 or 4 weeks, tops. Haven't disliked a film yet, has been great watching a bunch of stuff I wouldn't have otherwise watched.

Rawlinson, did you mean to change your films viewed from 24 to 1?

How we getting on then?

I've sat through 8 so far and out of the ones remaining, Festen, Dartmoor & Manuscript are the only things I haven't seen.

I would like to give the others a rewatch, but I don't mind getting the votes up soon if everyone else wants to..

I'm only on 7, and have previously seen another 5, so I have a good amount left I need to watch, since real world stuff has got in the way (Bastard real world, slowing down my film watching!) Hopefully I'll be able to blitz through what I have left in short order though.

Hi guys. I'm going to have to pull out of this. sorry for the late announcement. I haven't been able to commit to this at the moment and it would be insulting to all you for me to not take part fully. what little i have seen have been excellent, and i will want to see most of the great films put forward in this thread, just not yet unfortunately. Apologies if this put any spanners in the works.

I'm sorry to hear that Hubu. I'd say at the moment this will be going to at least the end of this month, I don't know if that helps.

This comes up a few times in the HoF, specifically should the films stay or go. I'm not sure if anyone sees it different for this and I'd like to still keep the Italian films in (and I swear I'll try to avoid noting that Italy is the country that withdrew from Eurovision at one point - bit spooky though!). Is that OK with everyone? I'm sure a lot of you will have seen the films by now anyway.

I'm happy to keep the Italian films in, not least because it means I get to devote an afternoon to watching TGTBATU again soon.

Yeah I' happy to keep them in too. It's been years since I've seen Le Dolce Vita / TGTBATU & I have been looking forward to a rewatch (whenever the hell that turns out to be though.)

End of the month sounds good to me.
