What happens when we're ready to vote? I know we vote for our top 10 films, but are they to be sent by pm, email or posted on thread?

I'm going to leave it another couple of weeks to see how everyone's viewing is going and when they think they'll get through them.

The ideal way to do it is arrange a time when we can all be on the board and do it the way the contest does - one by one in thread. (I suggested sending around a Doodle for availability!).

If that isn't feasible, and it probably isn't, what I thought might work then is to get a volunteer to accept the votes and ask them to post them one by one in the thread. Again, to be in keeping with the contest, they will need to be drunk and to think they are amazing wild and crazy, as well as the compulsory comments on how well the contest went.

I know, it's just that I speak German and not Danish

I'd also had a couple of drinks.

I read that as 'I've' at first - I was about to suggest AA at this time of the day

I managed to watch Secret of Kells over the weekend. I've also downloaded In A Better World off the Sky Anytime+ service so I could send the blu-ray back to Lovefilm. Hopefully I'll have another couple of Eurovision entries winging their way to me tomorrow.

Secret of Kells was grea
t, it's one of the best looking animated films I've seen in a while, certainly from a Western studio anyway.

Glad you liked it. It was one of those films that really suprised me the first time I saw it - absolutely gorgeous.

Looking to get started on this over the course of the week, which I'll probably begin with the 10 entries I already own (both entries from Italy/France/Germany, Wrong Trousers, Lazarescu, Pan, Barley).

Really looking forward to the Czech entries, they both sound interesting & I haven't heard of either of them. Are they available on lovefilm as they're a bit pricey on Amazon for my liking. Might consult my czech mate (ho ho!) to see if he has a copy of either of them.

And who knows? Maybe I'll be able to sit through Breathless from start to finish this time round!

Both are available for rental on Tesco which is part of Lovefilm (it's what I tested all the entries against). I'm surprised Closely Observed Trains is so expensive - I'm pretty sure it was given away with the papers a couple of years ago.

Busy weekend... I am done with Euro Vision viewing and will now get back to crappy films of the multiplex (is it me or is quality thin on the ground?) and Noir HOF. As for the Euros there were only three films that I disliked and I knew which they were. A number of films I remember liking a lot more but still thought were good and a couple went up in my estimations. The biggest gap between a single country was eleven films, the shortest was zero, which means bugger all.

I've been thinking it's the dredge the back of the closet for the little ladies during the footie time, especially that dreadful looking Lay the Favourite thing. My nearest cinema has 18 films on and the amount of crap is depressing. 5 I've seen, with only Avengers and Angel's Share watchable. The rest? (although I'll maybe watch Fast Girls when it turns up on TV).

The only film Iíve really wanted to see in the last two weeks is A Royal Affair, which was at the Cineworld I frequent but it lasted less than a week and Iíve now missed it. On offer is MIB3, Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, Lay the Favourite, Rock of Ages, Five Year Engagement (a film Iíll probably see but Iím not a fan of the Segel / Apatow-lite comedy especially if Segal isnít supported by Muppets) and Fast Girls. Coming soon is Joyful Noise and Ice Age 4Ö

Ah the joy of overseas DVDs arriving and no need to rely on our cinema output.

Next release film I want to see? Hobson's Choice on its big screen outing

Okdoke, just created my lovefilm account with the intention of using it intially for a lot of the Eurovision titles.

First 3 to arrive? The Cremator, The Saragossa Manuscript & Belle Epoque.

How are we voting on this by the way? Secret ballot or declared?

I noticed some of you have watched them all already, yet there's been no evidence of this in say the '100 films I watched this year' thread.

I've not added my Hall of Fame films either. I did last time but I've gone back to my old habit of leaving my ordering to be a surprise.

I mentioned above running a Doodle later this month to see if there's a possibility we could get everyone here on the same day to post our results like the contest proper. What I'll ask is for a volunteer to receive everyone's votes as a back-up as well.

You're Australian, aren't you? If any country outside Europe could it'd be you - you tried to get in the contest before!

As long as you're able to watch all the films (I'll accept a pinkie swear), you're welcome.

You pick up impressions. The only thing I can remember at the moment is I'm sure you've talked about some films or other being shown 'over here'. And you're clearly not in Malta, because they only see films about 15 years after everyone else. And they weren't Korean so you can't be NZ as those gits see SK films much earlier than everyone else. And Ghibli.

Yeah, this. I've watched all of the next HoF as well, but it's nice to have some of the lists left off the board until after the results are in, helps keep the surprise.

First 3 arrived yesterday - Secret Of Kells / You The Living / Belle Epoque.

Planning on watching them over the next day or two - along with Festen on demand.

Breathless can certainly wait.

Watched La Dolce Vita. It's a very, very good looking film.

I really liked it, in a laidback way - it's long, but that didn't matter, as it looked so good. Enjoyable too, with some really good performances. And the hair and make up and clothes are just so cool.

Lord knows how Anita Ekberg stayed in that dress though, especially after all that cavorting in fountains.

Yeah - I keep meaning to watch his films (Le notti di Cabiria and La Strada both sound like films I'd really enjoy), but never get round to it. Le notti di Cabiria and La Strada both sound like films I'd really enjoy.

I've seen very little of Italian cinema, when I think about it.
