I was really glad that got voted for actually. This bottom 25 or so are mostly one-listers with the odd two lister creeping in. We reach the end of the one listers within about 20 places though.

Yeah, I'm glad it made it too. It was on my long-list so would have been a bit higher had I got the list in on time.

It's the fact that it's so vague but so sinister that makes it work so well for me.

I apologise for not sending a list, I felt I couldn't really contribute with the time left and Iím lazy as feck these days. Still 400 is a pretty impressive number.

Beyond the Grave is really good and very entertaining.

Candle Cove is good fun.

Watership Down is a classic in my mind and one that definitely scarred my childhood, that little weirdo Fiver.

No problem about the list. I think we had over 600 different titles nominated, so yeah, good numbers.

By the way, did you see the news about a former Doctor who is going to be going into the jungle soon?

All I'm saying is you won't see Ten chowing down on Kangaroo cock.

Halloween II - As pointless horror sequels go, it's perfectly passable. Although I think Rosenthal missed the point of the first film by making the sequel a lot more graphic in terms of violence.

Watership Down - More traumatic than sex with Dev's mum. Do you believe they used to screen that shit on daytime Christmas TV?

And again. It's telling that the strictest parents these days are children of the 80's. What a wonderfully carefree, untraumatising, non-mentally scarring decade that was

I didn't. I've never seen a single episode of IAC. He was on that programme where four berks with illusions of cookery grandeur have each other for dinner...back last year I believe.

Kangaroo cock is still more palatable than Jinsy.

If we ran a poll of French New Wave Expressionistic films (I don't know if that's an actual genre; I just made it up) you can bet your bottom dollar that Gimli would try to shoehorn in the Pirates flicks and A Muppets Christmas Carol.

Candle Cove just missed out on my list.
Watership Down was first shown to me in primary school. My teachers were sadists.
Interview With The Vampire...next
Supernatural would've got my vote had it ended before it careened away from deconstructing typical horror tropes in favour of killing everyone a few times per season
POTC-Oh, Gimli.

I just think it's fairly lifeless, tbh. III was far better.

And these days they show Downton Abbey, so the trauma is still there.

I'm not a fan either. Endurance was doing it all twenty years earlier and at least that didn't have past-it celebs. I just saw a leaked line-up for this year in the news last night.

In year one, when I allowed Pirates and Muppets, it was because they have enough elements to be very very borderline, and I thought nobody would actually be mental enough to vote for them.

That's a wonderful mental image.
(For the record, by that age I'd been desensitised to horror by my extensive Goosebumps collection, so Watership Down was never a traumatic experience for me)

Surely Scooby Doo and then a sneaky late night Hammer is everyone's first introduction to horror?

This.

Followed by the likes of Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Evil Dead and An American Werewolf in London in my case and probably many people around my age.

Gremlins and Ghostbusters were probably worse though as they masqueraded as kid friendly films (library ghost and microwave gremlin would beg to differ). I know Gremlins was a 15 but that was as good as an U in the 80's .

Scooby-Doo yes.
Unfortunately, in the nineties horror on TV was somewhat lacking, so no dice there. There WAS, however, a TV show of Goosebumps, which served the same purpose.

As far back as I can remember, it was The Thing for me.

Scooby Doo was a cunt.

Was Goosebumps actually any good? Are You Afraid of the Dark seems to be similar, and that was awesomely cheesy.

Oh fuck no.

Well, that's not fair. The books' quality was all over the place (Which is why I didn't vote for them) and the TV show wasn't that special. I remember the werewolf episode being strong, and it had an awesome title sequence, but more often that not it didn't muster up the rubbishness required to be cheesy, and was just "eh".

My biggest exposure to Goosebumps was this second hand book stall in Cardiff market that used to be really good for cheap oop titles. They had hundreds of them.
