How was Seven Psychopaths? Apart from the obvious disappointment that it's not The Pillowman, I mean.

One I'm looking forward to coming back to. I think it might disappoint people expecting another In Bruges - it's not. It's a man who clearly thinks very little of the Hollywood writing process and plays with the structure of the story all the way through. In the best possible way Rockwell brings the Beeblebrox, Walken gets a proper acting role and is wonderful and I'm so glad Rourke didn't get the gang boss. Also, the dognapping thing makes me thing he's seen Harry Dean Stanton in Black Marble, which I love so it makes me smile.Esp as Stanton is in it.

He's got a pretty long storytelling scene and a couple of other bits. It's not blink and you miss it. He's got more to do than Stanton actually.

Also, there's bunnies. Lots and lots of bunnies. Possibly more than El Topo. I do mean El Topo, don't I?

Yeah, it's El Topo with the rabbits. I'm looking forward to it. Just need to find a cinema showing it.

Deliverance is alright
Cape Fear is good
Cabin in the Woods is great
The Crow is good and the graphic novel is great too.
The Shining is really good (Shinning is definitely better) but I'm not a fan of the ending.
Vertigo is great
Zombieland is great

The Empty Child - I voted for this one (not as big a fan of The Doctor Dances but sadly they had to go together). But The Empty Child is such a good horror episode. And I was really young when it aired so to me it's one of the first "scary" things I'd seen. I still can't rewatch it.

You're making me feel so old.

Btw, is there enough interest to try the combo weird list?

Yep, well up for that. Can Kate Bush and Tom Waits count?

Little Shop is fabulous.

I haven't seen Misery - big fan of the book though.

Quoth the Raven, "eat my shorts" - great poem.

The Stand - awesome.

Still not seen Twin Peaks

The Shout - one I really enjoyed.

The Boogeyman is one of King's very best short stories.

Yeah, it's essentially King riffing on (the superior) The Thing in the Cellar, but it's a good story.

Deliverance - Starts well, but becomes less interesting as it goes on
Army of Darkness - The second best Evil Dead
Pickman's Model - Oh fuck, I think I forgot this one. One of Lovecraft's best
Canon Alberic's Scrapbook - Fucking awesome
Cabin in the Woods - TOO LOW
The Devil's Backbone - A really solid ghost story
Casting the Runes - Pretty damn good
Blink - Best new Who
The Empty Child/Doctor Dances - Second best new Who. I was in my mid-teens when I first saw it and I couldn't sleep
Battle Royale - Superb film.
The Shining - Lies, the Kubrick film is better
A Christmas Carol - The best Dickens I've read
Hour of the Wolf - Zzzzz
The Boogeyman - One of King's best short stories, but not the best
Collected Ghost Stories - So good it got me a HoF win
Little Shop of Horrors - Exactly three good scenes and the rest is boring
Misery - Decent
Vertigo - I never understood the hype around this one
The Raven - Amazing
The Stand - Outstanding
White Zombie - Really bad, Lugosi aside
Zombieland - So much fun

I wouldn't call it a gamechanger as such, but it's easily the most fun I've had at a cinema since Lord of the Rings ended.

Yeah, it's the sheer randomness of that film being the one he's confused with.

It could have been Cheryl Cole singing Fog on the Tyne and it would have been a relief.

The Hitcher is superb.

Martyrs is nuts. I think Passion of the Christ just about pips it as the most insanely violent film I've ever seen.

Twin Peaks is genius TV. Well, the first season and the first 8 and last few episodes of season 2 are genius TV.

The Cabin in the Woods is great fun. Gets a bit too silly during the final few minutes, though.

Btw, anyone have any preferences for things to be included? I'm thinking that everything under the speculative fiction banner should be included, mainstream or otherwise, so that would rule in horror, sci-fi, superhero films, fantasy. I'd also be willing to allow detective fiction, as long as it was the odder end of the genre. So something like The Problem of Cell 13, The Speckled Band, The Deadly Percheron. Weird musicians, artists, comics, children's stories, etc. Anything that's just odd. Films, t.v., songs, games, art, novels, short stories, poetry, etc.

Cool cool cool. I'm actually really excited to watch some really fucked up stuff over the next while I mean I've already seen a heap of weird films already this year but now at least I have a purpose to track down some really questionable films

Lolita Vibrator Torture, Rape Between Sisters: Penetration! and Pervert Ward: S&M Clinic sound interesting to say the least

I'm about to watch Visitor Q and it's been 2 minutes and I'm already semi-uncomfortable.
