ELO and backmasking - hilarious read.

As with much of this nonsense - people looking to take offence and get a public forum to shout at.

I've been told they rival the Italians in filth and madness. Please tell me this is true.

The Italians probably edge it in the filth category but when it comes to the madness (and paper mache monsters) there's no beating the Indonesians. Mystics In Bali has floating heads with internal organs still attached.

I remember reading her performance was toned down for the Philippines (a very conservative Roman Catholic country which doesn't have divorce) and her concert in South Korea was rated AO. Fucking bizarre in the case of South Korea.

Not sure why - South Korea applies extensive censorship to music (and TV) via a government ministry. They have long lists of what can't be done and regularly update lists of songs they've acted against. The culture seems to pay lip service to an astonishing level of puritanism that doesn't apply to real life.

Oh, I didn't know that. I still find it odd, homosexuality, skin or violence are barely things that are unseen in the South Korean media, most of which are far more explicit than anything Madonna-lite offers.

From what I understand films are different because they can control entry via the ratings system. The Ministry is basically like the US family values lot - 1000s of songs banned, etc. Cable TV is beginning to go further than network TV though but, seriously - if you've ever seen an older Korean TV rom-com or drama watch them kiss - it's as sexless as Cruise/Diaz in Knight and Day. Close mouthed pecks with the idol stars too terrified to look into it in case they get a public slap down from prurient netizens.

But what can you expect when someone going on a date translates into English as a 'scandal'.

Does this mean not starting religion threads on this forum? It would do me a great favour as I'm sick of religion threads.

It's a mood thing. I'll be glad to re-discuss it after watching Prometheus or something.

Fair enough. I was getting worried there.
