Red Eye (2005)

Directed by: Wes Craven

Written by: Carl Ellsworth (Screenplay)

Music by: Marco Beltrami

Starring: Rachel McAdams, Cillian Murphy, Brian Cox, Jayma Mays

Lisa (McAdams) is a popular hotel clerk, who meets a mysterious stranger (Murphy) on a plane. This mystery swiftly turns to malevolence and the stranger known as Jackson Ripper (sigh) gives Lisa an ultimatum. Call her hotel from the plane and tell them to move the room of a wealthy dignitary and his family so Jackson's colleagues can carry out an assassination otherwise someone waiting outside her home will kill her father (Cox).
The fact that the majority of the film is set in the confines of a plane and it isn't noticeable is a testament to the writing and McAdams gives an understated performance, resisting the urge to overact.
Unfortunately, Wes Craven employs no cinematic techniques to make this look like anything other than a stark, heavily saturated film with cheap (almost home-made looking) thrills.
