Apparantly there are going to be around 11 confirmed DC Characters in Season 1 of this. Also confirmed to appear is Sir John of Barrowman whos character has yet to be named sparking Fanboys into musing that he may be a certain Gotham Billionaire.

Fucking dull as sin. Hated it.

Far too soap opera for my liking. It clearly wants to try to create a gritty crime thriller with a comic book hero at the centre, ala Dark Knight, but it's so poorly written, acted and put together it just fails miserably. It doesnt work as a slice of guilty pleasure hour of mindless guff, like say Hawaii 5-0. It's so wooden and just... no... terrible! I honestly think it may have been better if it was made a little more light hearted and fun, I'm thinking Iron Man in tone, rather than Dark Knight. The structure to that first episode was terrible too, especially the opening few minutes as they tried to cram in the return of Queen, and they're presumably going to use a flashback structure to tell his on-island story? Not a good approach, or rather, it's done in such a half arsed and rushed manner, it doesnt work. The opening episode should've really had more focus on Queen being a dick head, being in that yachting accident and getting stranded, have the island life interspersed with the pre-island douchebaggery and then lead it all up to his rescue at the end, I honestly think that wouldve worked better, and if we had no actual Arrow action in the cty until the second episode. As it was, it was all too rushed. Fuck this show. It's terrible. Just like Smallville.

I know it's just the pilot but I reckon I'm out. Nothing hooked me the way Smallville did, and the acting wasn't even up to that show's standard which wasn't great anyway.

And it was all just so boring; it's like that Revenge show mixed with...uh, Smallville.

I thought it was ok, not spectacular but I enjoyed it. Think I spotted a future DC characters foreshadowing on the island, but I'm not that familiar with DC so I may be wrong...

Too rushed in terms of the amount of plot it tried to cover, very heavy handed, very average script, a big feeling of 'I've seen this all before', but strangely still enjoyable enough.

Has potential once it gets past the character intros that a lot of new shows can struggle with. I really like the idea of using his time on the Island as flashbacks, it makes perfect sense to me.

I'm sure I could name you a dozen Smallville episodes (4 to 7) that were better than the Arrow pilot. I'm not saying they
were decent seasons because they weren't, but there were a few good episodes.

Just watched the first ep. Being a fan of smallville that stuck with that series til the end, I thought I'd give this a whirl seeing as it had a few of the same people behind it.

Right from the off though, I was starting to miss ol' Justin Hartley - at least that guy tried to mix in charisma with tough guy superhero, this dude just does moody - and not even that well.

One thing this Arrow does bring though, a total lack of conscience - he dispatches bad guys in a way that they don't tend to talk afterwards (very un-Smallville like).

I can see they're going the Dark Knight route with this though - bugger off somewhere for years and come back a human weapon with a personal agenda to clean up the city, all the while keeping up the playboy image to throw people off the scent. What wasn't clear in that first ep though is why the hell he has it in for the city's criminal element. I guess that will be revealed in time, but a bit of explanation behind the murdering henchmen and making lists, would've been handy to at least get on side with Arrow.

All in all, largely disappointing start with a pretty charisma free lead star. No doubt all the comic references and character cameos to come will please the fanboys (and I'm including myself there), but the show will have to mightily improve to keep me watching.

its his dads book / list though isn't it? didn't he say he wanted his son to right his wrongs or something like that before he killed himself ?

quite liked the second ep esp the island flashback at the very end. great to see Kelly Hu as a guest star too.

Actually, reading up on him, he's acted in a lot of stuff and only learned the parkour for his lead role in Arrow. Which makes it more impressive. He still can't act, though.

Yeah it's a shame. The show is good but the lead guy's acting is so wooden. Had they got a more charismatic actor it would have made the show a lot stronger. Makes you wonder who is in charge of casting when it comes to these sort of things.

Thats said, the supporting cast and show as a whole is entertaining and (thank God) nothing like Smallville. I just finished watching Last Resort, a so called great example of pilot TV and came away utterly unimpressed. I'll stick with Arrow for the foreseeable.

I really enjoyed the second episode. I think it showed promise.

Its still got all the problems I mentioned in my first post, but I don't mind as I expected that. I think this could prove to be an ok watch over the next few years.
