I know it was a long term thing (to be honest I used "moments madness" because I was trying to wrap up my point) but it still doesn't erase all those memories. Whether they were true or not they still happened.

Unless it's a writer trying to wrap things up too hastily, or a Daniel Craig's James Bond "putting his armour back on" scenario (which isn't hinted at in Iron Man), I just can't think of any justifiable reason for a human character to shut off their emotions so quickly.

I agree with Hood Man here, now he's brought it up it does seem a bit odd and definitely brushed under the carpet. I get that sometimes these movies cant dwell on these things, esp towards the end, but something would've been nice, an attempt at least

Its always contextually based on the viewer.

That said, I would say a "smart" movie is something that simply makes you think about something you haven't before or in a different way. Nothing more then that IMO.

Basically, to me a smart blockbuster would be something that not only provides the action, excitement and big budget effects, but also has good characters you can get behind, therefore adding to the action and excitement of the movie, and a plot/story that engages you and something you have to pay attention to. Also the issues the film deals with. Examples for me would be Both Nolan bat films, Inception, ROTPOTA, Avengers, Die Hard and Jaws. There are probably loads more but I'm tired as tits right now.

Good writing makes a smart blockbuster. It's a shame that this seems to be the very last thing considered with a lot of big budget fare.
