forget Attack of the Clones getting 5, giving Taken 1 star has got to be the worst empire ratings crime of all time!!

its easily a 4 star film for the 'particular set of skills' scene alone!

If I remember rightly, it was a bit of an embarassing review in Empire's history. Yes, the theme/politics are a bit off (do Americans REALLY believe Europe is such a terrifying, dangererous place??) but the Empire review did seem to take it a bit too seriously.

While i enjoyed Taken a great deal,consider this..when Mills rescues his daughter at the end by killing all the bad guys on the boat...whos driving the boat? If theres nobody driving the boat then they were gonna crash!

I guess it was if you were expecting to see Tree of Life, some black and white french shite or the latest woody allen snoozer. But if you leave your brain at the door and take it for what it is (ie dont take it too seriously and try and over analyze some imaginary underlying message) then its the most solid 3 star film in the history of cinema.

The one star review was so grossly over the top scathing, it was laughable. If Taken is genuinely deserving of a one star then empire need to start handing out minus stars for some of the utter crap that I've seen.

I quite like Taken. It does it's job well and Liam Neeson puts in a solid performance. I will conceed his daughter could have been given more than the three minutes in Europe before running into trouble.

More than this though, why did his pals not offer to go to Paris and help him? You know, the elite CIA agents who pitch up at his house, strike up a BBQ & beg him to re-join the team. You would think one of them at least would have his back ?

That spoiled it for me.

Shame.

My trouble with the film was
1.The characters were anoyying,especially the daughter who I wanted shot-off almost instantly.
2.plot-jumps.The way Neesons character would go from one situation from another with the film having no sense of structure/reason bugged me alot.
3.The acting was poor through-out
