ORIGINAL: musht So, how do we all feel about Agent Coulson being brought back for the SHIELD TV series? Does it lessen the impact of his death in the Avengers, or will this be a series based pre-Avengers? I personally am delighted he'll be back, I don't care of it's based before or after Avengers. Comic book characters "die" and come back all the time, do they not? I'll be interested to see how they do bring him if that's to be case. I'm not a reader of the comics (movie bandwagoner) so what heroes/villains do the comic readers want/expect to crop up in this series? It has to be a prequel though doesnt it? If it's set post Avengers it wont make sense, as any threat SHIELD deal with on the show should be easily dealt with by the Avengers. If it was set post AVengers viewers would always be going "But why doesn't Iron Man/Thor/Cap/Hulk just show up and sort this shit out?". A prequel will make most sense. You could say the same thing about all the solo films from here on in though. SHIELD will deal with street level threats I'd imagine, things too small to even bother a single Avenger with let alone the whole crew. I'd like to see Carol Danvers (preferably in her new Captain Marvel guise), Luke Cage, Daredevil, Iron Fist and a few minor characters get an introduction personally, possibly with a view to introducing them into mainstream Avenger territory (Danvers and Cage especially). I agree that a prequel makes most sense though but that's mainly because of Coulson being in it.
