I loved the trailer. Though it's not part of the MCU, so probably should go in the X-Men thread.

In MCU news, I just read on IGN that apparently Ben Kingsley is working on a Marvel One Shot short film in which he plays the real Mandarin berating his character from Iron Man 3 for making a mockery of his legacy.

I think having the Mandarin as real is the way to go - to keep the fanboys happy if nothing else! He's too big a character to be a fake. The plastic surgery line by Slattery in IM3 kind of makes sense if these rumours are true. It does confuse matters a bit though, as Killian said that he was the Mandarin and the image was created as a kind of hate figure for the world to rally against. But if the Mandarin did really exist, how does that work?

If Slattery is the real Mandarin (which is what I suspect anyway) then what they could do is resurrect Killian and make him a vastly updated Fin Fang Foom/Technovore hybrid.

What with all the recent rumblings re Doctor Strange and now with the director of Thor The Dark world stating in an interview that Doc Strange is going to happen i thought it time to throw a few ideas around re the casting of the Strange one himself. I had a thought that Zachary Quinto would be a good fit but recently im thinking about Boardwalk Empires Jack Huston in the role.
Facially Huston is perfect i think. Stick him in the gym for a couple of months and ta daah!

Any other ideas??

Jack Huston is a good shout actually! I could definitely see that!

Personally I'm jumping on the JGL bandwagon for Dr Strange as he's a terrific actor and if there going for an origin story he'd be about the right age when they start filming in 2-3 years time! I just hope he doesn't get cast as Ant-Man in the meantime as per the rumour mill!

A leftfield choice for Strange would be Joseph Feinnes. I think he'd be pretty good based on his short lived role as Merlin in [the highly underrated] Camelot!!

JGL just does not look tall enough to be Strange. I dont know how tall JGL is or the Doc for that matter but the latter seems quite tall and imposing whixh JGL is not.

He's a Swiss Army knife of an actor . Not feeling you on the JGL front at all. Joseph Fiennes on the other hand would make an interesting choice for Dr. Strange. For that role I rather someone obscure or unknown. Oded Fehr could do it.

I must say Empire have been really quite slack with getting out the news recently. Loads of sites are reporting what a lot of us knew already. This is just confirmation; Paul Rudd IS Ant-Man!!!

I'm really excited about this! I know extremely little about Ant-Man as a character but Edgar Wright + Paul Rudd + superhero can only equal awesomeness. And I can't wait to see how he fits in with the rest of the Avengers

Neither of those movies are part of the MCU.

They are part of the X-men universe and maybe a distinct FF universe, depending on their future plans for both franchises.

First official pic of the Guardians:

CLICK

And a synopsis;

"From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team – the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits–Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand – with the galaxy’s fate in the balance. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is presented by Marvel Studios. The film releases August 1, 2014, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures."

Quite unfortunate that is not even a complete summary of everything already confirmed.

Remember the bad guy in the first mid-credits scene of the Avengers? That is the guy, who, technically, is the main bad guy in GOTG, but The collector is the main villain. The collector works for that the main bad guy, although we will probably not see 'Thanos' untill the Avengers 3.

I do hope the movie will look better than the post-credits scene of Thor: The Dark World.

^Probably not going to happen in the near future. The only way they can give the Hulk his own franchise, is to shoot him to planet hulk, but people don't enjoy the Hulk per se, they also really enjoyed Mark Ruffalo's performance. Solo films with him are hard to pull off.
