You'd think Bay would be the perfect choice to make a fun film about giant robots beating the crap out of each other.

Personally I think he made half a good film (the first films first half)

I actually enjoyed the first film in the cinema (mainly for LaBoeuf being quite engaging back then and some staggeringly brilliant effects work from ILM) but it was in the firm knowledge I would never be able to watch it more than once.

Three unfunny twatted fucktards with about as much comic talent as deep fried dogshite, only dogshite is more appealing.

Cunts, especially the twat in the middle.

Which one directed Hot Rod? I know which one Samberg is but I don't know the others.

Hot Rod was quite an amusing film.

A comedic music trio called The Lonely Island.

The guy in the middle is Andy Samberg from Hot Rod.

I do find The Lonely Island to be rather funny.

I've never found it funny, personally. But they seem like genuine chaps and you can't take their popularity away from them. Not sure that qualifies them as twats?

The Michael Bolton Jack Sparrow song is quite amusing, but more so for Michael Bolton willing to send himself up so well than for the contribution of The Lonely Island. They're no Flight of the Conchords....

I'm now of the opinion that Hot Rod was lightning in a bottle.

I absolutely LOVE the film, but had never previously seen anything else by the same team. Then I saw some of their SNL stuff (Amazing Concept Disastrously Ruined In Execution Award goes to their Walken Family Reunion sketch), and some Lonely Island stuff, and I never even smirked. Awful.

But Hot Rod is STILL brilliant.

Also, RE Piers Morgan - yeah, the Americans are not really aware of his newspaper background and only see him as a Simon Cowell like TV presenter who's not as good as Larry King.

Go and watch/listen to Flight of the Conchords then come back and apologise!

Basically three SNL twats who watched FOTC and thought "hey bro's we can totally rip that off but replace the wit and humour with dumb toilet jokes for American teenagers and make tons of cash!" . Yeah it happened just like that.

And now Andy Samberg will be forging a career by appearing in Adam Sandler movies, just like most other former SNL nobodies.

Ok, I understand that it's broader than Conchords (who let's not forget aren't above low brow humour) but I still think it's funny. I like how they take the piss out of certain types of music, like in the aforementioned Jack Sparrow song with Michael Bolton.

I certainly don't think they're twats just because they use toilet humour. It's not like they were the first to do it.

I've said it before, but The Lonely Planet are the comedy/music equivalent of Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer (who are colossal hack wankers who also belong in this thread).

Lonely Island may not be your cuppa tea, and that's fine, but they're hardly a rip-off of The Conchords.

They're both comedy bands. That's where the similarities begin and end.

Anyone who stubs a cigar out in another persons eye goes well beyond being a twat. Let us not forget though that he is a pacifist as he has often twitted.

Considering Lonely Island appears to have been active since 2001 whilst FOTC formed in 2000 and only started to branch out internationally in 2002 and did not really make it to the US until 2006/7 then unlikely.

Man, I've been fucking up all day. At work, I made mistakes I really shouldn't have and never have before but I was so hot today, I felt faint and my brain just stopped working. It was awful. Hopefully I fare better tomorrow.
