I imagine that this may be pointless. Still I bravely venture on.

For any relative newcomers, back in the day there used to be a screenwriting challenge, right here in this very forum. An nice little informal thing where some talented people would write short scripts, following some theme or another. Then interest dwindled and the challenge died a quick death.

But can it be resurrected?

Has enough time passed that people have rediscovered their passion for such a thing? Have new people arrived here who would like to participate? If so, please make your voices heard.

If not, I'll weep and it'll all be your fault.

I've just joined these forums, popped in here and saw the writing challenge. I instantly wanted to get involved, opened the thread and imagine my disappointment when I saw the last challenge was from 2010...

I'm not very good, I'll tell you that now. But I often don't really know what to write, or am lacking a little in motivation. Something like this would really be useful, it'd get me writing regularly, and while losing every month at least I'd get practice in.

Hi everyone.

Good, I hope you're all still up for the challenge. So that's five of us then, hopefully the drop-out rate shouldn't be too bad.

You may have thought I would have some sort of idea what the challenge should be. You'd be wrong, I've no idea. I did think that it might be best to start small, maybe writing one scene as opposed to a short. I had an unused idea in another post on here, which seems to have fallen off the end of the earth. It was writing an opening scene for a Bond film. Any other suggestions?

One of the reasons I liked the challenge is that it made me write something, because I never would otherwise. Given the small numbers I doubt there will be any point voting anyway. I'm sure yours will be fine.

Yeah, perhaps a single scene set-up would be a good place to start. It means people will need less time to finish and might get more interested in taking part too. I also like the idea of writing the opening for a Bond film as a kick-starter. Maybe the criteria might mean it has to include a particular object or place?
