Hello, like many of you, I enjoy cruising the Amazon top selling lists of DVD's and filling up my shopping cart.

I was just wondering, how do they determine their ranking? Is it the ALL TIME top 100, or just whatever is selling hot that day?

If something was #1 for like a whole month, I notice it slowly works down the charts as where some things just drop off.

I just find it confusing?

I'd guess that since something like Iron Man 2 has 272 days in the top 100 then it's all time.

DO you mean the top 100 best seller list? It's current, updated hourly I think. I think the 272 days must be a total rather than continuous given it's been out about 3 times as long.

If you check there is also an archived best-seller list which might have an all-time. The way to think about it is there is no way a fitness DVD has all time sales bigger than the Harry Potter films. Mamma Mia is one of, if not still, the biggest selling DVDs in this country - it's way down in the 100s at this current hour.
