 As some mods have pointed out the original Scottish thread has gone all FUBAR sadly, so I think its time to bid farewell to our old heavy drinking forum champion and start over. So is there anything happening north of the border that's on your mind, is it Alex Salmond, Rangers, Donald Trump or shall we just bitch about the weather as usual?

 Ahh the original when it was good was up there with the best of the forum. Even when Sharkboy had to close it down! Good times.

 It's a braw day today, cycled to work and everything. We all know that means fuck all up here though, could be thunder & lightning and hailstones by the end of the day.

Also, being Scottish, do you not feel automatically better than all the other British?

Yeah the rain chat gets tedious. I was out yesterday and it started spitting and the amount of people who were cowering under umbrellas was crazy. I'm just walking along jacketless and actually sort of enjoying it. They definitely don't like it. As I said to my other half this is what Summer is back home and you just learn to deal with it and I've walked through a lot worse.

I was staying with my mate in Glasgow over the weekend and on Saturday we were having a wander in the centre only to find our entire path blocked by Alex Salmond and his entourage. Also, we were originally going to go to the East End Barras to have a roll with sausage and onions and a polystyrene cup of tea (all for the princely sum of £1.35) on Sunday, until we realised that there was a certain little football match going on that would probably have all the IRA sympathisers rioting in the streets. So we went on Saturday instead. A Ned offered me some cheap tobacco. I politely refused.

Isn't it easier to get flooded in a drought due to the topsoil being useless at absorbing rainfall?

You don't need to say 'east end' - it just is

We managed to get in and out of central Glasgow by midday on Sunday to avoid the hordes (after being stung for £5.90 by a parking operator for 1hr 10mins worth of parking - astonishing rip-off and while I should have checked I had thought it was the same as most other car parks we use in Glasgow which all have the same rates - recently changed to rip you off more though they are).

Re weather - well, it is actual flooding. And it isn't as if we shut up about the snow a couple of years ago when the rest of the country didn't have much.
