The Grandmother – 1970 (33.36)
Lumiere and Company - 1995 (00.58)

TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME – The last seven days of Laura Palmer. Starring Kyle Machlachlan, Sheryl Lee and Ray Wise.

LOST HIGHWAY – Featuring an incredible cast, LOST HIGHWAY is a powerful, sensual and extraordinary experience.

All of these are being released or re-released individually on the same date.

Woohoo!

No details on the bonus material for Twin Peaks?

Hopefully it will contain some of that deleted footage, but I'm not holding out much hope for that.

It's not there unfortunately. Shame.

Blue Velvet is almost missing the almost-mythically brilliant deleted scenes from the US release.

This sucks. I really wanted to see the stuff that was shot of Cooper after the end of the very last Peaks ep. Oh, well.

It looks like a nice set. I will probably wait for it to drop in price a little first, though.

Bet you Blue Velvet won't be half as good as the beautiful MGM release.

What is this 'discussion' you speak of? All I see is your usual, predictable (see my original post) anti-Universal brainfart which offers this 'discussion' absolutely fuck all, really.

I've seen Universal do some pretty sweet jobs with older titles like, for example, The Thing, which looked and sounded better than I have ever seen in it in any previous incarnation. In fact, it looked pretty fucking great.

There's nothing to suggest that they will foul-up Blue Velvet. The proof is in the pudding, as they say. This might seem like a cruel and unusual idea, but how about reserving judgement until Blue Velvet is released and stop being such a moaning minnie?

I didn't speak of "discussion", that's merely the name of the forum.

I don't see you providing any credible reason as to why anyone should trust Universal or any points contrary to what I've written about them. Following poor title after poor title, it would be quite literally insane for anyone to expect them to do a good job, really. If a footballer skied 49 penalties in a row you wouldn't back him to score #50 now would you?

You haven't seen the HD-DVD then.

98% of their back catalogue releases is proof enough.

Picked up the latest edition of Twin Peaks FWwM on Friday. It's beauiful looking and I really enjoyed it EXCEPT that every half an hour or so there was a dip in audio, as if a record needle slipping, sound? I presume this is an error of some sort? Anyone else have any issues with these Blu Rays?

Other than that its fantastic by the way: very crisp, can see every hair beautifully quiffed.

Looking at various forums,LOADS(including me)of buyers have returned the 6 film boxset that was released a few weeks ago,one reason being the very same problem you've mentioned on FWWM,but there is also a picture skipping problem about 80 minutes into Lost Highway. If you check on Amazon, you'll see all the disgruntled reviews.
I contacted Universal UK regarding replacement copies, but heard nothing after a fortnight so i sent the box back before the HMVs 21 day returns T & Cs ran out.
Apparenly there's a replacement system beginning soon,but i've lost interest now.Fuck 'em.

Really? I think it's passable at best.

I contacted Universal about the audio problems on the disc and they've just offered me a replacement if I can supply proof of purchase.

It was my first time seeing the film but I thought it looked pretty nice, no? As for contacting Universal: did you ring or email them?

I've seen better transfers, to be perfectly honest. The Blue Velvet transfer is possibly much worse. Two great films make their debuts on blu-ray and Universal made a total hash of them.

Here's the email address if you want your copy of Twin Peaks replaced. enquiriesuk@nbcuni.com

I don't know why people feel the need to insult directorscut.Ok,he may be totally anal and technically obsessed, but i find he gives a good indication of whether a BD release is up to scratch or not.He seems to know what he's talking about.

Presuming you got the following message as well:

"A new disc will be sent when they are received in, they are not yet made
and we do not yet have the ETA on them.

Kind regards
Universal UK"

Who knows when a replacement will arrive, not impressed.

I've just emailed them as well. I'm very glad I stumbled across this thread as having only watched Lost Highway a couple of months back on DVD, I probably wouldn't have come across this problem for some time. The film does indeed freeze at 1:23:46 and you have to skip forward to access the rest of the film losing out on a good 5 minutes of the film. It's ridiculous. Slightly concerned that I don't have the receipt any more though. Need to have a good hunt around.

Dude, I haven't had an email from them yet. It's been five weeks since I sent them my proof of purchase.
