What with is being Easter and all that...how about a musing over TV & Film's best ever Jesus depiction?  Robert Powell?  Ralph Fiennes?  Jim Caviezel?  Buddy Jesus?  Max Von Sydow?

Max von Sydow is actually good in a really pompous celebrity cameo filled drek of a film. Alternatively Steve Coogan in Hamlet 2, rock me sexy Jesus.

Actually, after careful thought I'd like to nominate Peter Boyle in The Dream Team.

It's between Robert Powell and Jim Caviezel for me. Speaking as a bad Catholic (a la Dara Briain ), I'd say that their performances were the most powerful.

My personal favorite Jesus would be WILLEM DAFOE from LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST. I don't much go in for the Christians and their carpenter god, but Scorsese made a powerful and thought provoking film, and it was centered around a fascinating and very human performance from Mr Dafoe.

Very good! In fact if you hear the commentary by Verhoeven, he pretty much makes it clear that he wanted Robocop to be an allegory of Christ! And my, what a bad-ass Christ he makes!! He can be my personal saviour anyday!

Because Jesus was a good looking white fella. Judas was black apparently.
