LIGHT SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LIGHT SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LIGHT SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone familiar with, and a fan of Joss Wheldon's back catalogue will find much to relish here. Most of his previous writing credits are very immersed in fantasy, and the premise stays firmly rooted in that genre(for the most part). The film is ultimately a odd hybrid of Hellraiser, The Truman Show, Lost, and The Evil Dead. It's seemingly odd shifts in tone do jar a little to start, but by the last third, the set pieces are so gloriously over the top and off the chain, it doesn't matter. The final 25 minutes or so, are so insane, you will marvel at ridiculousness of it all (Three words - Lift doors opening...). It feels oddly original given all the various material that it is a mash up of. LIGHT SPOILERS END I think Empire were a little hard on this, with it's *** review. For first time viewings, I guessing a lot of people will rate this higher due to it's sheer entertainment value, but i going to go with ***1/2. Definately one to see with your mates on a Friday night. Everyone leaving the screening seemed to have a blast and you will too. Enjoy!
