The problem is they didn't shoot for R. The best R rated films are uneditable. If this EXPENDABLES 2 R is like the R for the first movie, it's just going to be a bunch of carelessly inserted close up shots of gore or CGI blood splatter. If this is a movie that could be either PG 13 or R, then whatever gore there is would not have been that great in the first place.

Publicity stunt!

Remember that Furturama episode with Slurm... "then, when everyone hates it, we'll bring back Slurm classic, and make billions!"

Trick the audience into thinking they're getting a kids film, then slap Sly on the back for 'keeping it old school'.

I don't care what rating the film has as long as its good. Gore and swear words can't make up for thin characters and plot.
