Do you think Taylor Kitsch looks like Michael Shannon and Channing Tatum's love child?

One word. She only says one word in this and it's badly acted. However, I rate Berg and think he has out-Bayed in a good way judging from this...

The fact that anyone (i'm looking at you danbo1138) can compare this to two Michael Bay films in one comment tells you one thing and one thing only...

This film will inevitably be 2 hours of nonsensical CGI guff. If this has any semblance of a logical plot I will happily eat my own balls....

The only summer blockbuster of the last 20 years this movie doesn't borrow from is Jurassic Park. But maybe trailer #5 will also have a dinosaurs in it. And Twisters. Sea Twisters that suck up whales. It would be cool to have a movie with flying whales in it.

Also does anyone think the character dynamic bears a striking reseblance to Bruce Willis, Lyv Tyler and Ben Affleck in Armageddon?

It looks kind of spectacular, though.

It looks absolutely awful, nothing will convince me this is going to be anything more than pretty people blowing up pretty CGI monsters. However, with the amount of FNL alumns involved in this, I feel obligated to see it.

From the look & design of the Alien Craft looks like someone's been reading their old X-Factor comics.

CGI is a great art form if it is used intelligently and isnt rapped by Directors/Producers/ScreenWriters who stay at home all day playing video games.

No it's more like an overweight security guard. It'll grab you by the scruff of the neck initially, but it won't have the legs to go all the way.

This film looks fucking shit, but I have to admire that they're trying to convince us that a fim based on a decidedly un-thrilling, dry strategy game can be exiting as a film based on robot cars.

If they've managed to fuck up the films about robot cars so bad, what hope is there for the game involving placing red and white pegs in a grid?

Yeah, it does look very Transformers inspired. But Peter Berg has at least a little bit more talent than Bay, so I'm holding out hope that this thing won't completely suck.

Probably won't fall over myself to catch this at the flicks, though.

Although I suspect Neeson isn't going to be in this very much, I'm praying that there's a scene with him standing over a defeated alien, holding an enormous futuristic weapon, and growling "You sunk my battleship!"

Having just seen The Japanese Avengers trailler have to say i'm far more impressed with the S.H.I.E.L.D Hellicarrier than I am with the craft from Battleship.

To be fair, there is scope for some tension. Kind of like Hunt for the Red October/Crimson Tide or WW2 naval warfare where it's a case of guessing where the enemy is and destroying them without giving away your position. I think that sort of approach would've worked better. There's a sense of isolation being in a vast ocean with cavernous depths which they could've used to reinforce that sense of danger-at-sea, but it looks like it'll be Transformers-lite. Which is a shame.

I think the most exciting thing we can expect is seeing the aftermath of someone's elbow shaving in the "This is me" thread.

Awesome avatar dude . One of the Halo live-action shorts?

I at least expect some entertaining battle sequences. We haven't really seen naval warfare fully used in film and certainly not in an alien invasion scenario. There looks to be some stunning shots Berg's managed to create with the battleship firing its 16 inch guns. Plus Liam Neeson is a battleship screen presence anyway!

One other interesting thing is how Berg putting a modern spin on Pearl Harbour. Having the Americans and Japanese fighting on the same side after a surprise attack and on the same seas over which they contested one another 70 years ago. Really interesting idea, I don't think it'll have much sails in the film but intriguing nonetheless.
