Sarah Connor Chronicles is missed by myself. And I bloody well hope Spartacus lasts until the proper end.

Flash Forward (slow but promising), Firefly (one of the best Sci-fi series EVER cancelled well before it's time although Serenity did resolve a lot), The Event (for the last season half or that ending alone!), Pushing Daisies (two words: Anna Friel), Special Unit 2 ('cause it was fun and showed much promise), Reaper (although thankfully we still have Supernatural to compensate), Stargate Universe, Caprica ... oh man, the list goes on ...

There is one huge omission to this list, the granddaddy of all TV sacrificial lambs whereas the likes of Lost got to meander on and still was able to get itself sorted and then have one of the worst climaxes to a series, Twin Peaks was not allowed such a chance, yes it did go off the boil but how many series are allowed to go off at a tangent and come back these days, TP is the godfather of modern TV, think of where it was before it came along, it literally gave birth to the term cinematic televison.

The Doll House - exceptionally good.

Started off a little bit "Quantum Leap-ish" and I think this may have done for it... The depth of the characters and plot strands made it fantastic...alas too late. At least they were able to conclude it properly, unlike the other Whedon classic - Firefly. Would love to know how that might have developed... :-(

A lot of these shows deserve to be here, but there are some awful picks - Jericho? Invasion? - they were awful!

I have to say I really get fed up with TV shows ending prematurely. I loved Flash Forward and Shark (James Woods) which we're unduly cancelled and The Event and Jericho were shows that were certainly promising had they continued. I just hope Fringe runs its course and concludes with a proper ending. From what I hear on the grapevine its not looking promising!

You missed out The Event, FlashForward and Life. 3 great series with a big mystery at their centre, which they failed to resolve.

You could've mentioned how Arrested Development is, more or less, surviving. We'll never get the full uncut story, but there's another stint (10 episodes, I believe) coming back on air, followed by a movie. IT'S IMPORTANT THAT PEOPLE KNOW THIS. WE CAN SAVE OUR BLUTHS. In saying that we can have the loyal fans flock to their TVs when these happen, give it more respectable ratings.
And Community isn't in dire trouble anymore either, the world makes a bit more sense for right now.

This was a fantastic list, showcasing pretty much every TV series I have ever loved. Occasionally I got lucky (The Shield, The Wire) but usually they all end up cancelled.
Really wanted to see Carnivale on this list though...

One of the best shows ever. But... the puppets. Even as I sit here reading the article my other half is all "Look at puppet" at Rygel. Oh well.

Browder and Black had amazing chemistry. The wormhole technology, the scarrans and the sebacians(sp?), Scorpi... So friggin' good.

Watching the Peacekeeper Wars you can see how they've tried to condense a season into two hours. At least we got a bit of closure.

All these shows were great (especially Firefly, Arrested Development and Pushing Daisies), but I think Drive should've made this list as well. Drive, which also starred Nathan Fillion, was a Cannonball Run-type drama about a group of random people who are forced into joining this no-holds-barred racing competition. Each person was racing for a certain reason. I thought it was great from the go and kept the audience on its toes, but sadly, the ratings weren't there.

I'd put The Event on the list.
It started slow, but had an incredible and promising ending.

Studio 60 was brilliant!

I hope Alcatraz gets canceled before JJ Abrams can lead the vast majority of the TV watching world on a merry dance once again with yet another high concept thought-up-in-a-bar idea streched shamelessly across 7 seasons.

The trailer shows the prisoners return from the 1960s supposedly looking exactly the same except for their now modern haircuts!?? Is Videl Sassoon somehow mixed up in the disapearances?? All will be revealed in 6-7 years time when the earth spins off it's axis as a result of so many people rolling their eyes at the same time.

I'd also like to add Heroes, Flash Forward, Lie to me and Eli Stone. I started watching No Ordinary Family last year - OK - now gone. It seems that if I start watching a series it gets canned. I know that Fringe is struggling. I am in danger of letting a series get established and then watching the boxsets - thanks to Sky Atlantic (Sopranos, Six Feet Under).

Only 3 seasons from 1966 to 1969. I'm amazed no one's thought of bringing it to the movies, or a spin-off series or maybe even a reboot. Oh well...

You don't think Heroes was cancelled early? To be fair, the fourth season wasn't that good, but the ending set up for a stellar fifth season. No other show like it now.

I'm really irritated that Terra Nova has been cancelled. Took a while to get going but the last 3 or 4 episodes were excellent. And it was set up well for season 2. Not in the same league as Studio 60 or Firefly but still... Also this is the first I've heard about Fringe being in danger...start the campaigns now!

Really liked this and although none of the cast went on to be stars, some of it's themes were recreated in BSG. Plus the final episode left viewers wondering whether two of the squad had survived a crash behind enemy lines.

Heroes went on for too long and Veronica Mars had the same problems as all high school dramas, they grow up.

Agree with Arrested Development, Caprica, Sarah Connor Chronicles, Dollhouse but did anyone not catch 4400? It started off like a better version of Heroes and just got better and better with each series, the finale cliff hanger opened it up to all sorts of possibilities in the future too. Loved that show....

Tripods - always wanted to know how that ended
Doctor Who - with Sylvester McCoy as the Doctor. Wipes the floor with David Tennant
Fawlty Towers - uniquely hilarious
Blakes 7- they all DIED!?!?!?!?!
Angel - the person who decided to cancel Angel should be burned alive. Twice.
Samurai Jack - best. Cartoon. Ever.

Agree with most of these... reading this makes me sad, but also fills me with dread... Evil networks: don't you dare cancel any of my current favourite shows - such as the - hopefully not aptly named - Walking Dead!!

Also, please, please - one more series, mini-series, movie, short, anything, of Reaper to wrap things up. Pleeeeeeeease!
