Awesome! It's been a while since I've got in on the series (sim city 2000*

), but it's been in the back of my mind to get back to building mighty metropoli.

*back when I got an IBM PS1 25Mhz with 4Mb of Ram (just got the game to work, after having to make a boot disk just so that it could run)

I'd love it on consoles but the only thing I find with these type of games is the controls don't port over very well. I'm happy to play it on the PC.

Sim City 4 was a bit complicated for me, but I enjoyed Sim City 3000.

I never played 2000 though...

Once I learned that you won't be sacked if the city is a poorly-funded hellhole, but you will be sacked if you get into debt, I mastered 3000 and regularly would spend 4/500 years running the same city to greatness. It gets easy after the first fifty years of producing a surplus by cutting everything (clearly David Cameron is a fan of the series).

Honestly haven't played a sim city game sisnce the epic snes version. They all just seem like RTS war games without the action parts.

Ill give it a look though.

I've already returned the game after 2 hours. Why? Because, unknown to me when I ordered it (which is my own fault for not reading up but I was excited at the thought of playing a new SimCity game) you have to be connected to the internet to play it. All the time. There is no offline play at all. Which when you use mobile internet means the game is unplayable as connection is unreliable. So I've had to return it without even playing it, which would be

except now I have done some reading and it turns out EA have fucked up big time anyway. Servers are playing up it seems, and apparently it's half a game as it is (small maps sizes, no rail or subways, zoos etc).

What a shame, back to SimCity 4 for me then

Not played a Sim City game since the original but was interested in this. Does 4 still hold up well?

I think it does. It's obviously aged a bit graphically (it is over 10 years old after all) and it's got an annoying tendency to crash every now and then but it's still a solid game. Plus with 10 years worth of mods to download it's got a scope that SimCity 5 will probably never match, given that EA will almost certainly take it off their servers in a few years time.

I never bought it at launch, but after the intial problems I'm really tempted to pick it up now.

I bought it last Monday mate and I can't put it down. I had a zombie outbreak last night that wiped half the town out.

I'm just trying to get the hang of building a casino town.

Wow, i've got simcity 2000 and i have a feeling my cd's scratched now...

Simcity on the snes rocked my world, i remember playing it with a friend for a whole weekend, i wonder if there's an emulator somewhere for it!

May have to look at the new one, give it a punt.

Hmmm things I've learnt. Don't plop a Nuclear Power station in a town without schools. Evidently a town of Homer Simpsons can't run one without it exploding.
