Halo 4 - First look

Well, that's definitely Halo...

343 has balanced their respect for the past but also the desire to innovate
Wants to take risks and present their own voice for the series
343 sees the game as a reboot of the series
200 plus development team
The start of a new decade of story for Halo
will be consistent with the previous games
Following the stories from Halo 1,2 and 3
Following the Master Chief character and what happens to him next
Full in-game chief looks much better model than Reach characters
MC hud is changed slightly
Chief's armor has been redesigned
343 wants to add more story lore into the game
will use character interactions to show MC motivations
Cortana's influence in telling the story will be high
New ancient and dark threat introduced, new challenges that MC has not encountered before
343 want a more deeper story, darker more sophisticated theme
343 want to tell a story over a series of future games
Story will be easily understood by newcomers and vets
Spartan 4 armour based on delta force, navy seals
No plans for 3D support - wanted to create a game for the largest audience as possible
Design goal to have a greater accessibility for newbies regardless of customization options.
Vehicles to return
No barriers for the team to create for story
343 want to redefine the multiplayer
Multiplayer will be faster paced more visceral and intense but will keep the Halo flavour.
New maps allow you to visit places outside of the campaign
"Warhouse" civilian manufacturing plant travelling in space.
"Wrap around" symmetrical type maps for team slayer - forerunner solar facility
Customize all aspects of the multiplayer character not just cosmetic but gameplay affecting.

@ 1.11 - Frank drinks Tennents?

Anyway, long time Halo fanboy so will be all over this. It looks to be using the Reach model for MP which I wasn't too keen on but I'm looking forward to see what happened to MC after Halo 3.

Seems pretty dumb to me to release that on the 360.

Why not wait for the next console and you have a pretty big killer app out on launch?

Not too interested in this to be honest, but like with ODST and Reach before it, if they have as good an ad campaign as those two games, I'll be buying it on day one.

It's reignited my interest. After Skyrim I'm going to pick up Halo: Anniversary to get back into the swing of things.

Lost interest completely.

I've accepted I'll never relive the glory days of playing Halo 3 from my Uni days. EVERYONE had it, it was so accessible due to split screen multi-player and guest accounts and was big fun.

ODST - was an experiment. I enjoyed briefly but the campaign didn't have the staying power of Halo 3. Thanks for the extra multi-player maps though ... unless you already had them.

REACH - I was loving it. Which is the problem in itself. Clocked it. Done a bit of multi-player. But was way too busy to commit.

Now 4's coming along it will have to do something amazing to get me back into it.

Halo for me has always been about the great AI enemies and the new bad guys look like they'll give you a run for your money on Legendary so count me in.

Also anyone else reminded of Metroid watching the latest E3 trailer?

I was thinking about posting in here earlier but I couldn't be arsed.

Not too long to go now and a fair bit of information getting drip fed. Human weapons and now specialisations.

It seems like there's a lot of changes afoot (specialisations, mods etc.) but I'm still looking forward to it.

I'm actually quite looking forward to this, ever since Halo 2 the series has been slowly but surely winning me over (ODST aside) game by game. I still wouldn't call myself a Halo fan mind you, but they're solid shooters.

Really dug the end of Halo 3 so interested to see where they will take the story. Also judging from the gameplay trailers the visuals have taken quite a leap, Halo 3 & ODST always had an air of HD Halo 2 about them, Reach was the first Halo to really look the business on current gen hardware.

There's a fair bit of moaning on the Halo forums about how this one is a massive departure from typical Halo (mulitplayer anyway) with the introduction of specialisations, perks and armour mods.

It doesn't bother me, I prefer to wait and see if they are positive or negative changes. As long as it's still good fun with a good population and, most importantly, stable online play I'll be happy.

Really looking forward to see where the story takes Master Chief. Halo has always been one of the games where I've been just as interested in the campaign as the MP.

Adapt and overcome, or fuck off and play one of the other 7 Halo games.

I am actually pleased that graphically this looks superb. Not that Reach or the others were slouches in that department - its just looks like a big budget game now. (Halo 3 I'm looking at you)

If they pull this off on current gen and it appeases the die hard Halo crowd and manages to be bigger than the other games then expect Halo 5 for the launch of Xbox720 or whatever the hell they will call it...

Now that would be a smart move on Microsofts part. Since Blackops I haven't been bothered about COD, Halo looks immense this time around...

The preview was quite good but I've not watched any of the taster interviews yet. Will probably geek out and watch them all at once this weekend.

Going to pre-order on payday and coincidentally have the 5th-7th off work that week.....

I also need a new controller so I'm tempted by the UNSC one.
