I mean, the photos, the diary, the rubbing, THE MATCHBOX! This is easily as good as the shit we got in BTTF Blu Ray. But better cos it's Indy.

Nice review, though I had to look over at IGN to confirm the previous digital tinkering for the HD broadcasts on TV were not present. And I hate IGN.

I have watched the first three films and am very pleased with the set so far.

I have to say that after years of watching the cut version of Temple of Doom, finally watching the US version on Bluray was slightly strange. I think I actually prefer the cut version.

I received the limited edition set on friday and it is glorious. The menus are done in the same manner as the original blu of KOTCS so at least that strengthens the continuity of all four films.

The diary is quite nice and a LOT of thought went into whats written inside.

I probably wouldn't have bought it myself but my brother has picked up the limited edition for me as a Christmas present. I'm all alone again this Christmas () but at least I know what I'm watching.

Quick question on ToD uncut facts - Has there ever been a definitive uncut version before? I only ask as I have a UK VHS box set from the late 90s where obviously it didn't have the heart ripping out stuff, and may have also had some of the torture scenes edited. Then I have the R1 DVD box set where there seems to be some blatant editing around the time where Shorty frees Indy and takes on some Thugee guards (can't remember it edited like that in the UK version though). Any explanations?

As far as I'm aware, the region 1 version is the complete cut of the film.

I know what you mean, though, isn't there a shot where Shorty grabs Indy and says "wake up, Dr Jones" and Indy slaps him away, and in the background there's a couple of Thugee guards who look like they've just been beaten up? I always remember thinking what happened to them? Did Shorty 'torch' them? Just problems with continuity I guess.

Shifty's obviously right about the R1 cut. But interestingly I do remember an old interview with Spielberg when he was talking about the scene where they lower the slave into the pit and he says how the animatronic of the slave seemed too realistic and they had to scale back the shots where he gets immolated because it was "too horrific". The cut R2 version was "horrific" enough IMO, makes me wonder how violent they originally intended it to be.

I watched Raiders of the Lost Ark this afternoon.

There were a couple of moments where the image looked a bit smudged (thinking of the scenes with Molina and Ford on their way to the idol, and Allen and Ford walking down the steps at the end), but other than that Paramount did a really sweet looking job on the transfer.

And it's still a big bucket of fun. Remember the good old days when action scenes featured old school stunt work, good camera work and editing?

Aye, that the one. Guards hoping around like they've been hit, but no scene showing it. Like you said, continuity I guess. The things your older eyes notice, but your younger eyes didn't even register (or give a shit about I guess!) What I'd give to go back and watch this film for the first time again. Parents took me to see it when I was about 7, it was all I talked about for weeks. Makes me pitty kids growing up today.

great to get this at decent price though once again the stuff on the bonus disc could have been spread over the main movie discs.
