ORIGINAL: guysalisbury Really? Apart from Thor, what has he Directed that's any good? Jeez yeah, if you're gonna bash, atleast know what youre talking about. Joss Whedon didn't direct Thor. In terms of what Joss Whedon has done... Before his own career launched in the late 90s he was a highly respected script doctor, fixing and cleaning up scripts that had problems. He has created three of the most loved and critically acclaimed TV shows of the last 20 years (Buffy, Angel, Firefly.) He wrote one of the most acclaimed runs on a Marvel comic in the last decade with Astonishing X-Men. And he wrote and directed one of the most popular sci-fi films of the last decade as well, in Serenity. Whedon has a fantastic writing style and directing style, and IMO (and I'm aware it is your opinion too, so I'm not saying you're wrong) this film looks FAR from average. Is it going to be an actionfest? Yeah of course it is, look at the trailer, but Whedon has never, and IMO will never work on a project that does not have a strong emotional and character based core. So in terms of directing, numerous episodes of all his TV shows, a number of which have won awards, and Serenity, which had a fantastic visual style, especially its space scenes. Now, it may seem silly me pointing out all that stuff after you ask what he has directed, but lets look at the facts - His love of scriptwriting has helped on here, where he took a few passes over the script. As previously said, he has won many awards for his work on his TV shows, and due to his skills has developed a loyalty among his fanbase that can only be topped by a select few other things (like Star Trek), his work at Marvel has shown his love for the superhero genre, he isn't just treating this as another directing gig, and Serenity has shown his style is able to translate well to the big screen. Oh and the other thing his TV shows have brought to this is the ability to handle large ensemble casts without really pushing anyone to the side and in to the shadows.
