Synecdoche, New York is one that I will fully admit to not really understanding at all, but somewhat I loved it. What I did understand really affected me, it hit me on this weird emotional level beyond coherence... or something...

I'll admit that I just can't get my head around Memento. It's the chronology of the film I think, but I just can't seem to fathom it. Only seen it twice though.

Valhalla Rising, I didn't understand it, and thought it was the most boring, pretentious shit I've ever seen.

POTC3 made no sense, and, gonna be relevant to a current release, Prometheus. It's not that I didn't understand it - it's that it didn't make any sense.

Despite how stupid I am and how much I struggle with most films at SOME point (I'm exaggerating a bit here), I never had any problems with Donnie Darko at any point. I guess I was so thoroughly engrossed that to me it just completely worked, both as a coherent plot and as an amazing film.

I never really understood (or paid attention to) Total Recall until I saw the Blu Ray this week with Verhoeven's interview. NOW I get it (whats a dream and whats not).

Having read the UFO and Conspiracy threads I reckon that would be one of the least outlandish things our Spaldron believes in.

 Maybe I was having an off day and I wasn't paying attention but I just couldn't get my head around Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

It was also dull, which didn't help matters.

 The story is simple, they just didn't tell it in a straightforward way. Thought it was decent overall though personally.

The story was simple and boring and told in a way that deliberately confuses. Purely an acting film.
