I fucking love Jennifer Lawrence. Bunny rabbits and kittens pinch her cheeks because she's that adorable.

That's all I have to add to this thread.

For me they look just as ridiculous giving Argo a best film award.

But then you are pretty legendary for having the worst taste on the forum.

I thought the right person won in most of the categories, and even when I didn't like the winner, I could understand why they won, even Ang Lee, which is a massive improvement on most years for me. The biggest screw-up was in the nominations stage, when they overlooked some great films in favour of mediocrity in two of the best picture nominees.

I wish they'd introduce an ensemble award. I'd have loved Affleck to get an acting award last night, just to see your reaction.

Bafflement. His last two films have been run of the mill but Gone Baby Gone was really good. Hard not to think of one factor that's pertinent there.

Shaking her butt doesn't add to the quality of her acting though

I do wish she'd star in a film with Ryan Gosling. Such conflict for you - or self-combustion. One of the two

Is the factor that you don't have very good taste and can't recognise how good The Town and Argo were? Because that's the one that leaps out at me.

If Jennifer Lawrence and Ryan Gosling were in a movie together, I would put that shit on a constant loop and never leave the house.

I haven't seen The Town but the fact elab dislikes it so much makes me feel pretty certain I'd love it .

Don't think I didn't see you referring to me as 'the enemy', not so hidden away on Facebook

The source book is OK for the Town, Prince of Thieves.

I don't recall calling you that on facebook (fairly sure I haven't either) but I do recall calling you it in a tweet addressing you directly on twitter, sort of hidden in plain sight if you will .

I'm basing the above post on the fact that you've hated pretty much every film I've loved over the last year.

You think it's extra sweet for Clooney that he got his second Oscar on the same night David O Russell missed out twice?

Clooney probably is that petty, yes.

Didn't like Adam and Dog. For me, it was either Paperman or Head Over Heels to win.

I had Head over Heels or Fresh Guacamole. As time has gone on the former has really grown on me. Others on the longlist looked more impressive than some of those they chose.

I wasn't keen on Fresh Guacamole either. If showing off your technical/editing skills earns you a nomination, then why not nominate any of the hundreds of other videos that do the same thing on websites like YouTube?

I thought it was inventive as well though, and it made me smile. So many don't.

I often wonder what they are voting for though. Technical brilliance? Inventive storytelling? It often feels that some nominees have one or t'other.

Yeah, I thought it was inventive but nothing more than that. I'm still a bit unsure as to what made this particular short stand out.

Head over Heels was inventive with its animation but also employed it to produce a good story.

Well that was...okay.

Pleased for Affleck, Pi's tech awards (cinematography aside) & Ang Lee (oh how I chuckled on the inside knowing how enraged it'll have made a certain few folk here).

Gutted for Deakins, Riva & all the non-Brave animations. Would have liked to have seen nods for ZDT & the actors from the Master but I didn't expect them to win anything. The split oscar for sound editing was strange though, has that ever happened before?

Completely indifferent to the wins for Lawrence & Waltz - despite liking them both.

Tarantino's win also vindicates his continued self-indulgence. Shame on the academy.

Still, at least the Hobbit got exactly what it deserved.

And people may crow about Adele (MEH) but Bassey knocked her out of the park.

Highlight of the night was seeing Naomi Watt's face in response to MacFarlene name-checking Mulholland Drive in the boobs song. I'm hoping that was a genuine reaction of disgust rather than something rehearsed.

Please get the Muppets to host next year...

Both of these. Offhand, the most obvious was a reminder last night - Hepburn/Streisand.

Really pleased for Argo and the actors all deserved their awards even if I would've picked a different winner for three of them. Happy with both of the screenplay winners but I can't understand how Life of Pi won best score and Brave won over Wreck-It Ralph.

It's got to the stage now that they should just rename the category the pixar award.

I liked Brave, but it's significantly inferior to the other 4 nominees.
