Predictable, but such a great performance and DDL is awesome.

That is true.

I'd have that reaction of Kermit and Miss Piggy were presenting. In fact, they should have The Muppets host the awards next year.

Are you forgetting the Hathaway/Franco clusterfuck from a few years ago? Although Jackman was a good host.

You think it's extra sweet for Clooney that he got his second Oscar on the same night David O Russell missed out twice?

That was all Franco's fault really.

She wasn't a great host either though.

So everything except Beasts won something from the Best Pic nominees?

Of the two though, she was a hell of a lot better. She should do it with Jackman.

Well I'm extremely happy with most of the results Tarantino, Lawrence, Waltz and Argo in particular. I haven't seen quite a few of the other nominees but still yay.

Pissed off that Emanuelle Riva didn't win for Best Actress, otherwise Ho Hum.

Well, I avoided the guilds awards this year so some pleasant and not-so-pleasant surprises.

Ang Lee - What. The. Fuck. Probably the single worst nominee out of EVERYONE last night and all for directing a festering turd of a film. Did he win the DGA?

But the good!

Argo - yay! I knew it had won the Globe and Bafta so had it between this and SLP for Film. Makes the Affleck director snub all the more embarrassing, though. And if I could find my review of it from last year I did start it off by saying I thought I'd just seen the newest winner of Best Film, so for once my prediction was right, bearing in mind this was before all the guilds started announcing.

Waltz - Hoffman just pipped him for me, but it was a great performance nonetheless and I'm glad that winning an Oscar just a couple of years ago doesn't necessarily stop a deserved second win.

No, Affleck did. Argo took everything - WGA, PGA, DGA, SAG ensemble. An absolute clean sweep. The Academy look absolutely ridiculous today over the directing snub.

For me they look just as ridiculous giving Argo a best film award. I'm not sure I've disliked so many winners in a while.

Mind you, I got pretty much nothing right in the sweep. I switched off quite early, too. I'm kind of glad Curfew won best short but you tend to wonder if it only one because it was the only American, non-subtitled, nominee.

But then you are pretty legendary for having the worst taste on the forum.

I thought the right person won in most of the categories, and even when I didn't like the winner, I could understand why they won, even Ang Lee, which is a massive improvement on most years for me. The biggest screw-up was in the nominations stage, when they overlooked some great films in favour of mediocrity in two of the best picture nominees.

I wish they'd introduce an ensemble award. I'd have loved Affleck to get an acting award last night, just to see your reaction.

Affleck also got best speech of the night. I know it doesn't count for anything, and for all I know it could be a facade, but he seems a genuinely nice guy.

I think he is, we all know he's not a convincing enough actor to pull off a deception that strong.

Anyway, you starting the thread for next year's predictions?
