Having watched and really enjoyed Rise... over the Christmas period, I decided to pull my finger out in recent weeks and finally watch the original Planet of the Apes. It was good, but due to it being so ingrained in pop culture and lampooned/paid homage to in so many other things, the ending didn't have all that much of an impact and the film was watched with a sense of knowing throughout.

As for stuff I've yet to see, well I'd say a lot of the classic Westerns, in particular The Dollars Trilogy and The Magnificent Seven. At least in the case of these, I know pretty much nothing about them (Seven, I do know the premise, but not much more), so there'd still be some mystery there.

The problem I have with Gone With The Wind is that I just can't be bothered setting aside four hours to watch it. I looked forward to Lawrence Of Arabia and Seven Samurai 'cause somehow I knew I would like them, but I have a bad feeling GWTW will just bore the living crap out of me...

Inception. I was going to watch it a few nights ago but I was tired and thought it might require me to use my brain.

I watched Just go with it instead. I didn't have to use my brain but did feel slighlty used and a little bit dirty by the end of it.

Also..........

A Mighty Wind (ashamed to say)
American History X
Inglourious Basterds
84% of available James Bond films.

This list makes my watching of the aforementioned Just go with it even less acceptable. I hang my head.

I am making a concerted effort to watch some stuff I've missed but never admitted to this year. I saw A Clockwork Orange and Brazil for the first time last week, and The Godfather for the first time in January. I still haven't seen All About Eve (on my list, I even have it here) I did watch Reflections In A Golden Eye, but then kinda wished I hadn't bothered. Still not seen Citizen Kane all the way through. When they start dancing in the office, it always makes me feel a bit queasy. Other on the horizon include The Odessa File, On Golden Pond and Octopussy (can you tell what letter I decided to start with?)

Most Westerns (although I have been trying to rectify this and have now seen A Fistful Of Dollars but have sadly had The Good, The Bad and The Ugly on my shelf for over a year unwatched!)

Also Seven Samurai is sitting at home waiting to be watched too, and Citizen Kane.

I've planning to see some Cagney films (any suggestions welcome!), and a bit of original noir (same here). I tend to use love films streaming to catch things I want to watch but am not sure about buying.

Never seen Citizen Kane, but it's on my list. As are about a hundred others!
