As tomorrow is the glorious feast day of The Pancake (personally I eat pancakes most days, but I make a special effort this week), here is a thread for everyone to discuss how much they bloody love pancakes. Recommend places that make good pancakes, offer your favourite recipes - I like to use a combination of milk, flour, eggs and sugar - discuss new movements in the pancake world and other similar pancake-themed topics. For this week, I'm going to record how many pancakes I consume between today and Friday before my blood turns to a strange brownish gel. I've had nine so far today (five for breakfast and four for lunch). Feel free to join me, unless you're one of those pussies who buys pancake mix or - god forbid - buys pre-made pancakes in a little packet.

Thanks for this, Olaf. I had no idea that tomorrow held special significance for the world of pancakes and flapjacks. I'm a long time pancake enthusiast, and if the process of making them was no so labor intensive and time consuming, I'd no doubt eat them with far greater frequency. Regardless of whatever pancake headaches I may have the other 364 days of the year*, I will now be sure to go out of my way to whip up a batch on the morrow, to mark the date.

PERSONAL PANCAKE PREFERENCES:

Butter
5% Maple Syrup Syrup
and bacon on the side

PS Blueberry Pancakes are fantastic

*Or as this is a leap year, the other 365

for some reason, they seem to schedule Pancake Tuesday around the phases of the moon instead of the other way round so there's sadly no fixed date for an international holiday. I agree though, the work that's required of a good batch of pancakes (along with the price of eggs) hold me back from making every day a Pancake Day so to speak. And pancakes + bacon is indeed a godlike combination at any breakfast table, well observed.

I remember holidaying in New York about seven years ago, and the hotel I was staying did a proper all you can eat thing for breakfast (all three breakfast types - ie fry-up, cereal, pancakes - were well represented). Many pancakes were eaten that week.

I had some friends round on Saturday and made them pancakes. My favourite one was chorizo & mozzarella. One of my friends is lactose-intolerant so I made them with soya milk; I was surprised to find they taste just as good as with normal milk.

Had lots of batter left so had pancakes for breakfast and lunch. on Sunday.

It's officially Pancake Day now. Is anyone making pancakes? I'm out of milk and the 24 hour Tesco is ages away, so I'm not. Shouldn't have made so many pancakes earlier, really.

My eldest daughter made me pancakes last night, a day early but that's because we won't have time tonight.
Very nice they were too, I had the first and third with lemon juice and the second one with syrup.

Going to do some savoury ones for dinner tonight with prawns, spinach and creme fraiche which are then covered in parmesan and grilled! Not exactly traditional I know but hey-ho they're delicious

Then a few more sweet ones with sugar and lemon or some jam...I am tempted to make a few now for brekkie though

I think we've all been down this route in another thread (or 3). I guess our memories of the outcome are different Jimbo. Maybe the thread continued after I (thought) finished reading it/it hadn't ended. Hell's teeth, I can't even remember what thread it was.
Boy or girl, we all love pancakes. Yay!! Although I've got lasagna in the oven for tonight. Hang on....how about lasagna IN a pancake huh? Like a sort of canneloni/canoli?
