It's the Paralympic mascot. His name is Mandeville and he is dressed as a beefeater.

Duh!

I think the logic is he (and the Olympic mascot) dress as things associated with London. Like a Beefeater, a London Policeman, a Queen's Guard, a hooded thug and an overccharging cab driver.....

It still bugs me they didn't give kids the chance to design our mascots and logos in a nationwide schools competition. Obviously they probably would have had to hire a design team to clean them up and polish them a bit, but it would have been a great way to really get people involved.

And possibly cheaper too?

Oh well, at least everything else has exceeded my expectations anyway

One thing which can definitely be said. the graphic design for this Olympics sucks. The logo is still awful and these mascots are rather lacking.

The mascots are hideous like. It's funny how they charge for them to appear at schools and community centres as well! Shows where the spirit in this games really is!

quote:

According to the associated (fictional) storyline, they were formed from the last girder of the Olympic Stadium. Their skins are made of highly polished steel allowing them to reflect the personalities and appearances of the people they meet. Their one eye is a camera and on their heads are yellow lights symbolizing those of a London Taxi.

Quite interesting. Although if asked what the London Olympics Mascots were, the answer 'well, they look just like two drops of steel made from a girder in Bolton' would probably be the last thing I suggested.

So there are two girders missing from the Stadium!

I see Morrissey is seeking to maintain his Dick of the year award this year as he has for the past ten years or so.

quote:

Singer Morrissey has slammed the coverage of the London 2012 Olympics for its "blustering jingoism" - and likened the "foul patriotism" to the Germany of the Nazis.
In a statement posted on True To You - an online Morrissey fanzine - the former frontman of The Smiths outlined his distaste for the media attention given to the royal family and the sense of British spirit.

What a charmer.

(although admittedly he had one or two good points mixed in there just hidden under the twat speak)

Even as a fan of Morrissey in general, I'm not really interested in these random outbursts these days.

It is the only way he has to stay in the public eye any more.
