... their is a cultural deficit in the west regarding animation? Why, as Mr. Fincher alludes, does their seem to be an attitude that 'adult' animation won't sell at a feature length. We have so many ridiculously good adult cartoons by people like Trey Parker, Seth MacFarlane and the Adult Swim roster ... but very little in the longer format. It's f*cking stupid, is what it is! I really hope Goon gets made, and SOON!

The irony of it is: Cartoons were created as adult entertainment, mostly shown on the front of movies. Kids couldn't watch em. If it is true, it's further evidence just how feeble minded the movie biz is. Every time someone makes a fortune on the back of some lame franchise/pretty boy/vacuous bimbo another piece of ballsy originality gets the chop.
I could swear, but I'm not going to.

Unfortunately it seems that the film isn't going anywhere fast, but at least it isn't as doomed as implied in the article
