Has any body looked at what Transformers Dark of the Moon has been nominated for ?. It's not a best picture or best actor there all technical. What ever you think of the film it does deserve  to be nominated in the technical  categories.

Yes I liked Transformers Dark of the Moon as well.

Trench: I'll be back.

Church: You've been back enough. I'll be back.

Trench: Yippee-ki-yay.

Kind of surprised that Michael Fassbender wasn't nominated for Shame, but you get that.

bunch of backwards mofos. At least Oldman got nominated. Look forward to being even angrier next year when TDKR and Nolan get snubbed over who knows what.

Nothing for The Guard? What a joke but then why am I surprised the Oscars are the definition of an utter joke.

Counting the minutes until the over zealous mods lock this thread too.

Why only 2 songs nominated? they might as well not bother with it anymore.

Pleased and surprised with this year's list. I'm amazed that The Tree of Life has been nominated for Best Picture. Why wasn't Malick in the Best Director category?

He is.

No Best Director nominations for Christopher Nolan, considering his filmography, just emphasize how much of a joke these awards have become

Oscar history suggests that after TDKR comes out will be his time, because he's still in the process of achieving what the Batman films will achieve, and has already had a massive influence on the way other summer blockbusters are planned. If TDKR delivers, watch out everybody else at the subsequent Oscars, as with Return of The King.

Few filmmakers have ever by themselves change the way the entire industry thinks about how a genre film can also be 'a real film'. If he pulls it off re TDKR, these awards, which are the awards the industry uses to promote and reward itself, will give him his due, for having raised the bar for what can be achieved, and to a degree, gotten away with, within THE most lucrative age-rating that can be attached to a film.

No seriously Oscars can suck my balls, bunch of art loving funaphobes, lifetime achievements in disguise and spew inducing weepy speeches. Lost respect for this crock of shit when FORREST GUMP beat off Pulp Fiction, dunno if Shawshank was nominated that year but....... See, see what it does to me. Twat head Oscars keep em!!!

Drive unassailably had the best soundtrack this year (Attack the Block a close second, loved that film!). Refn always nails the soundtrack. Shame, it didnt get nominated. Happy that Tinker,Tailor managed three major nominations though.
