The Hidden was on my SF list too - a long-standing guilty pleasure. Good to see it here.

Yucca Flats just four places below The Innocents is all kinds of wonderful.

Yeah, I think that's more to do with people not realising The Innocents would count as a cult film than some massive display of love for Yucca Flats, tbh.

I've seen Primer three times now and I still can't make head nor tail of it. Good film though.

I must have been the only vote for Yucca Flats? No one else can surely love it like I me, and even I hated it when I first reviewed it on here.

No, it was a two-voter. Can't remember who the second was, but it definitely got on another list because Pulp Fiction/Bat Pussy/The Hidden was the end of the one-listers.

Nice to know someone else here has taste! Would two members be enough to start an appreciation society?

Earth Girls Are Easy - Lol. Although the fact it's higher than some really great films makes me sad.

That was another one-lister, same as Escape to Victory. We're nearing the end of the one-listers now though, everything from this point on was either on two-lists or in someone's top 10.

Earth Girls are Easy is a fabulous film, you fools.

Glad Society and Track 29 made it

Yay for Society, Waterpower, Supervixens, Lost Highway, Porno Gang, Sanatorium and Army Of Darkness.

The Room and Troll 2 on the other hand are shit. Although it is nice to see that the two worst films in the history of cinema have fans somewhere out there.

The Room? I know it's a Cult Countdown but wasn't it supposed to be a list of the best cult films?

Someone forgot the brief, didn't they.

Never thought of Blair Witch as truly cult, but it's a fantastic flick all the same. Seriously creepy shit.

There are three reasons why I can't completely write-off Adam Sandler despite the utter shite he has associated himself with recently:

1. At A Medium Pace
2. The Wedding Singer
3. Punch Drunk Love

PDL is seriously overlooked, and it has Sandler's best performance to date.

Lost Highway is top tier Lynch.

The Wall - I'd rather listen to the album.

Kill List - one of the best films of 2011. Miles couldn't be more wrong about it.

Dune - Lynch's worst film.

Yeah, Kill List is amazing. Dune still makes me weep that we didn't get the Jodorowsky version. Even if it was a mess it would have been a spectacular one.

quote:

In December 1974, a French consortium led by Jean-Paul Gibon purchased the film rights to Frank Herbert’s epic 1965 science fiction novel Dune and asked Jodorowsky to direct a film version. Agreeing, he planned to cast the surrealist artist Salvador Dalí as the Emperor Shaddam Corrino IV, who requested a fee of $100,000 per hour. He also planned to cast Orson Welles as the Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, who only agreed when Jodorowsky offered to get his favourite gourmet chef to prepare his meals for him throughout the filming.[25] The book's protagonist, Paul Atreides, was to be played by Jodorowsky's own son, Brontis Jodorowsky. The music would be composed by Pink Floyd, Magma, Henry Cow and Karlheinz Stockhausen.[citation needed] Jodorowsky set up a pre-production unit in Paris consisting of Chris Foss, a British artist who designed covers for science fiction publications, Jean Giraud (Moebius), a French illustrator who created and also wrote and drew for Metal Hurlant magazine, and H. R. Giger.[citation needed] Frank Herbert travelled to Europe in 1976 to find that $2 million of the $9.5 million budget had already been spent in pre-production, and that Jodorowsky's script would result in a 14-hour movie ("It was the size of a phonebook", Herbert later recalled).[citation needed] Jodorowsky took creative liberties with the source material, but Herbert said that he and Jodorowsky had an amicable relationship. The production for the film collapsed, and the rights for filming were sold once more, this time to Dino de Laurentiis, who employed the American filmmaker David Lynch to direct, creating the film Dune in 1984.

I just don't like it. It's so desperately dull. I've read the story too, which isn't much better though it is a lot shorter, and I like her writing style. And the end is terrifying. But it's just so dull and I don't care for either lead at all.
