Love that Stairway To Heaven pic and a very uplifting thread to flip through..

Some of my reasons....

To name just a few ...

Absolutely this. One of my most favourite romantic moments ever.

And then it gets followed by this:

... Because it makes you feel alive like nothing else can. Because watching a work of beauty on screen can make a thousand words seem unused. Because there is nothig like seeing passion on screen and soaking up that screen and seeing art before your eyes wash over you and make you feel for that one moment in time that for that period of freedom, nothing can ever get better than seeing what you have in front of you - cinematic gold dust at it's most beautiful.

Being on set is the most exciting place on earth. Nothing can beat that creative atmosphere for me.

And those films that leave us giddy, laughing, dizzy and silly. Those films that are just too much fucking fun.

Yup.

I was doing some work from home the other day and put it on in the background to keep Jr quiet. I just happened to be walking through the living room as it ended and, without having sat down to watch the rest of the film with him, just hearing that line in isolation as I passed, set me off.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have something in my eye.

Great thread by the way. Seeing some of those images and gifs, even after seeing the film a hundred times, has brought a smile to my face.

One of my favourites:

I know, I know.

I'll sort an opportunity to sit down and watch it properly with the kids.

Cinema is THE most expressive artform. It can encompass all and any emotion.
It can say a thousand words without any sound.
It can be more real than reality itself,in a sense!

What a great great thread. I hope Homer has chilled out by now
Didn't Ford ad lib the "I know" line? I cant contribute the way I'd like to as I still haven't managed to work out how to use gifs and shit (I totally forgot to ask Snake to show me how on his
I-phone at the London meet-up.....too many shots) but as much as I love film it's so great to be reminded why. The Star Wars stills, the Sulaco entering orbit, Indy making the switch. Thanks everyone for making my day....don't stop!!

Set up an account with an image hosting website (I use photobucket) then upload your gifs to that site. On the image hosting site there should be a direct link option usually beside or under the pic. Click on that then use the add image icon (it's the last icon on the toolbar when you post here) and just paste into it. Hope that helps

I was with you as far as 'set up'. I'm really not an idiot so I should have been able to do this by now. But I can't. I just need someone to sit me down and talk me through it. I'll ask Snake or Lukeyboy to do just that when I am back in blighty. Thanks for trying though mate. Seriously.
Oh, and one more reason for loving cinema? Clint..........

Edited to remove unacceptable turn of phrase.
