Fuck's sake. This subforum in a forum about film is packed to the rafters with negative threads about film, and which ones we hate, and why we hate it, and why it sucks. In an attempt at actually enthusing about film and cinema for once, you've still got to shit on it?

Choose one of the other six thousand threads that shit on film to shit on film.

Anytime a character breaks the fourth wall. Ferris Bueller, Ted Striker, etc.

Spotting an injoke. (A113, CRM114, etc)

The moment Juliette Binoche scrapes her knuckles across the wall in Blue.

Jessie's song in Toy Story 2.

"Kitty?"

The slap-induced revelation in Chinatown.

The dolly zooms in Vertigo and Jaws.

The tracking shot in Weekend.
                          in Goodfellas.
                          in Atonement.

Have you spotted it in Monsters Inc? I've tried. I was watching "Pixar: 25 Magic Moments", and even they couldn't remember where it was!

Actually I still love going to the cinema. Yeah ok there are occasions when it is nightmarish, but then if you choose to go on Saturday afternoons or Wednesday nights, you know what to expect. The times when I have either gone on a mid-week day off or a Sunday morning or a Thursday night or a Friday night late night showing are some of my favourite times in the Cinema.

Huge screen ( no matter how big your TV is, it just doesn't compare), surround sound, the smell of popcorn in the air, big comfy seats. The MGM Lion, the New Line logo, the Pixar Lamp, the Dolby advert, trailers, that moment of silence just before the film kicks in, those films where the audience is silent at the end, watching a re-released classic and everyone just waiting on that one line to be said or that one scene to come on and the buzz around the room when it does, those films that you come out of thinking 'I have got to see that again', liking an actor/actress that much that you go out and buy the rest of their films right away because you absolutely have to see everything they have ever been in.

I love the cinema.

Indeed. I reckon I go to the cinema as regularly as anyone else on these forums (did over 250 new releases last year, and at least 200 of those were public screenings) and I can count the number of truly terrible experiences I had on one hand. The only time I avoid the local multiplex are Saturday afternoons and Wednesday evenings too, the rest of the time (even Friday and Saturday night) is fine.

Moaning about the price of cinema tickets is also a little bit unfair; 8 for two hours worth of entertainment is very little, especially when compared to the price of a football match/the theatre/a gig.

Totally!

In all honesty without film I do believe that I would be a different person, as I'm sure most of us would if it were to be taking away from us. It is film that truly lets us communicate with each other and forget about our own lives for a change. Through the laughs, the tears and the goosebumps, to the suspense and suspicion as to where the film may take us. You think you have the storyline figured out at times and then you realise how wrong you are but it's great! Film keeps you on your toes and with the new cinematic experience that is becoming the "norm" over here (IMAX), we can truly immerse ourselves in cinema. We've come along way baby and although I have deep nostalgia for the old classics, ie; silents and black & whites, I am truly excited about what is yet to come and what we will see achieved in our lifetimes. A place where we can all lose ourselves and forget about our crappy day etc.

To the Cinema!

This!
One of the greatest cinema experiances ever. When he throws the flare away, and it keeps on chasing him. Brilliant

Also the opening credits of Tintin. Its just a wonderful experiance when a director you have always admired has the same level of enthusiasm and love for something you have grown up with

Seeing a highly-anticipated film on the big screen for the first time - and coming away from it feeling more than satisfied (War Horse, for example).
