Because a film featuring a Chinese kung-fu henchman called Thunder who explodes when he gets too angry is just as much fun now at the age of 35 - if not more so - than it was when I was 11.

Two absolutely amazing films right there. The Passion would easily make my top 10 of all time. By the way what's the film under Sherlock Jr? It looks familiar but I can't place it.

Rectify immediately! To be fair it is pretty iconic, it's been homaged all over the place, so thats probably why it feels so familiar.

Because every so often there'll be films that come along that we really adore but that no-one else really seems to have heard about, and even though we may try and articulate why we love it so we can never truly explain it. But it doesn't matter, because just like a random piece of music it can speak to us, appeal to us, in such a way as to make us feel that it really was created just for us. No matter how many other people may also love it or hate it.

The main reason I love cinema is because it's given me something to do with my life.

And because sometimes films can devestate us, leave us feeling bruised and drained, breathless and heartbroken...and yet still yearning for more.

For me it's because films, no matter what is going on in the world, can make us laugh, scare us, have us on the edge of the seat, educate us, or inspire us and, as DancingClown nicely put it, always keep us coming back for more.

Sorry to be all negative but I agree with the above post.

Good movie experiences are great (at home) but for me 90% of cinema experiences these last two decades have been awful. From the price of tickets to twits talking, laughing (amongst themselves) or kicking the back of my seat.

I'd also appreciate it if cinema staff took tips from hotels and good quality restaurants and treat guests with respect and boot out those without any.

Fuck's sake. This subforum in a forum about film is packed to the rafters with negative threads about film, and which ones we hate, and why we hate it, and why it sucks. In an attempt at actually enthusing about film and cinema for once, you've still got to shit on it?

Choose one of the other six thousand threads that shit on film to shit on film.

It's only a minor blip. Here's something to get it back on track:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mo_zTU7ME_A

He's the epitome of film. Articulate, knowledgeable and hugely inspiring. He was one of the first directors I got to know when I was getting into films.

There seems to be a problem here where people seem to be reading the thread title as "Reasons I Love The Cinema" as oppose to just "Love Cinema". It's meant here as a general term, no matter where you're watching it. People are daft.
