This is an atrocity. The only redeeming feature of the first film was that it delivered on the promise of reviving 80's action stars dispensing 80's level violence. With this film, they had a chance to get the story and characterisations right as well, and there was plenty of good will towards Sly to give him another chance. That good will has now been betrayed. Sly was the only one left championing old school brutality in a sea of watered/dumbed down action films for kids, now he's sending his Holy Grail down the same crap chute. As the poster Lukeynemo aptly put it: 'Making this a PG-13 is like making porn with the sex scenes cut out.' I'll be boycotting this one, along with the doubtless PG-13 Die Hard 5, and I hope others will join me. This sellout behaviour needs to be punished in the only way that will make studios listen. Hopefully there'll be a violence-ridden home video release (although dubbed in swearing and added CGI blood puffs - ala Die Hard 4 - only adds to the insult so they needn't bother with that) but I doubt it. Another sad day for mainstream cinema.
