Can we not club together and hire an escort for Scott? One night should do it.

Okay this is all beginning to get rather boring and tiresome now. Mods, can you lock this thread until a trailer comes out so at least people can then have something worthwhile to talk about?

Now I've got over my disappointment that this movie's lawmaster is just a modified street bike (that batpod showed the way to go for anyone with the processing power) I'm trying to content myself with the thought that the film will be cut so fast that the production design won't really be so much of an issue.

How do you think the bike will work in context? (http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/rorschachsrants/news/?a=28507 )

Do you think that scene will work well in 3D? My understanding is that the process is still at the stage of seperating the image into a background and foreground layer. So Dredd on his bike with the city whizzing by in a blur behind him should be an ideal use of 3D, no?

For a start the entire film is set at night-time so the scenes of Lawmasters throttling through the skedways may not reveal a huge amount of actual city detail but the usual future scape of phosphoresent noirish impressionism.

The Batpod idea for the lawmaster is kind of unworkable/unsuitable for Dredd. The Batpod requires it be ridden while lying down -racing position- for any moves other than a straight-line at slow speeds whereas we all know Dredd's Lawmaster functions as a patrol-bike where an upright seating position providing clear vision of a wide are is key for street level monitoring and law-enforcement. This would not be possible on the Batpod with wheels of that humongous size unless the rider went at a moderate speed. In this respect the current Lawmasters are better as Lawmasters.

This bike would have been a good base to build a Lawmaster upon:

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_p_CXcHWZJDE/TG5YsRuoLmI/AAAAAAAAAuY/lLNjieilwBk/s1600/travertson_DSC0039.jpg

The unique steering could accomodate a larger wheel.

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_p_CXcHWZJDE/TG5Ys8pi1hI/AAAAAAAAAug/X2zGu6xQFQY/s1600/travertson_DSC0062.jpg

Though I'm sure when we see the Lawmasters in action on film with bike-cannons engaged we'll soon forget any gripes.

Ok now things are getting suspicious, where are all these new posters all with similar posting styles or affiliations to dreddhead coming from?

Ok man, apologies if you got the impression I was having a go at you. Its just that this thread (and any other Dredd discussion thread) on these boards have been derailed recently by various trolls and internet refugees, usually barred members from the 2000AD forum, some of whom have taken on multiple username's on here. Your posting style seemed similar to another's and I was being a tad over suspicious. No hard feelings, and welcome to the boards.

Welcome, JOE SOAP, 2000adonline's movie news bloodhound. JOE was the guy responsible for truffling out the set pics posted on the previous thread, and his presence here should at least guarantee we all have something to talk about other than the size of Urban's helmet.

The only respect in which I think Christian Bale's bike provides a paradigm for future film lawmasters is that it has wheels so massive it could only work as a digital creation.

Chris Halls was quoted in an old Megazine film supplement, saying the first film's motor pool had caniptions trying to get their Lawmaster to turn corners, but if they'd forgotten about actually trying to build a working bike- and just made a big plastic kiddie-trike for Stallone to sit on- they could have made their hog as representative of the comic design as Kev Walker (i) liked.

That bike (which looked okay from the rear) was so underpowered and moved so slowly they might as well have pushed it in and out of frame and added the engine noise later. For all I know they did. Good to have you here, Joe.

Wow dreddhead, you need to turn off the computer and go outside for a bit. That's paranoia on a massive scale. The stalker becomes the stalked!

I used a bit of Spanish in an earlier post. I suppose you'r going to accuse me of being Carlos Ezquerra now?

I have encountered this "Keyser Sozzled" on other websites and he more or less has confirmed to me that he is, in fact, Stallone

Fuck's sake.

This thread and all Dredd related threads can fuck off.  Wasn't so bad when we just had DreddHead  here, or Scott as these new wind-up merchants keep constantly calling him, despite the all round bad form of identifying posters on a forum.

Thank you, Saucie.

Who said anything about a she? I was thinking of that bloke who lives behind Sainsburys, who smells like a dead yak and shouts at traffic.

If we give him a bottle of meths I reckon he might just do it.

Being the insufferable man-child that I am, one of the things that I hope to see come out of this film is some quality merchandise.

I am hoping for some action figures and vehicles.

Ok any more posts alluding to peoples identity will simply be deleted.

Also I would add everyone is sick of 2000AD in crowd assertions. Keep it on topic directly relating to the film. Keep Empire chat on here and 2000AD chat on there. Its quite simple.

Information on Dredd's production:

Principal photography: November 2010 to February 2011.

Post production: February 2011 - October 2011:

quote:

Shahid Malik

FX Supervisor on Dredd
Prime Focus Film
Public Company; 1001-5000 employees; PFOCUS; Entertainment industry
February 2011 October 2011 (9 months) London, United Kingdom

Created and/or specified all the 113 FX shots on Judge Dredd feature film reboot. Managed a total team of 10 FX artists.

(Information courtesy of Joe Soap)

This post production schedule ties in with the recent John Wagner interview where he mentioned he was seeing the final cut in November. If all the effects shots were completed in October then the final cut would be ready by November. Subject to any further editing - such as changes based on future preview screenings - this means a ten month gap between the final cut and the release of the film (November 2011 - September 2012).

No because the final cut (and was this the term used or are you just making that up/getting mixed up with 'working cut' or something? Link please) doesn't necessarily mean the finished product; it's an edit that has all the scenes and cuts etc. that they're happy with. Effects are generally still in progress at this point. Remember the leaked copy of the Wolverine final cut?

The FX supervisor above was probably responsible for special effects as opposed to the visual effects added afterwards.
