Will definately get this at some point, looks superb - I love the ant farm look of the main base it's really special and something I've never seen before in gaming.

Not only does it look superb, it is superb! Until it goes tits up then its devastating, lost my sniper last night. Still in mourning.

I lost eighty percent of my team, after 25 missions on Ironman. Tears just don't cut it. The sole surviver was my sneaky Psi-Sniper with Ghost armour whom I have always hated. Thus a bloody restart. Can't have rookies against those bloody massive robot things. (The very cause of said eighty percent loss).

Sounds like they've kept it to the original dynamic of Laser Squad, which is a good thing. So, I may have to put the original asid to see what the remake is like...

I've been playing on classic and the longest I've last is 92 days, so not even seen those massive robot things. the sectoids and thin men are enough for an entire squad wipe.

Am new to the games. Have to say I'm really enjoying it. Not been on it a massive amount of time but I could easily see myself losing days on end to this game.

I made the mistake of having a bit of a blow out and buying Dishonored at the same time and so am kinda flitting between the pair. I need to pick one and stick with it (as well as finally complete Max Payne 3 - I'm a sucker for a new game)

This is the first 'remake' I've come across which genuinely feels like the original game all over again, only on a modern day system, it's awesome.

I'm happy they've stuck to the old formula - very hard to find any real gripes with it. If I was nitpicking

- I would prefer more of the game to take place in sleepy little suburbs, like it did in the original. I used to love creeping around a populated down, and looking for cover in houses etc. If the game has one shortfall, it isn't quite... atmospheric enough.
- Kneeling to increase accuracy is a bit of a miss
- Like with the original, the aliens seem to level with you - I would rather just have a mixture, even as you get more powerful, but the XCom games have always done it this way.
- The ability to have more than one Skyranger! Funding is so consistently low it's difficult to keep all of your nations happy, and it would be good to have multiple missions on the go at once.

Apart from that, it's bene worth the wait, and if they can get a sequel up and running... ah, happy days for gaming have returned.

Got the game today and am really enjoying it. The only problem is that it's quite buggy and I've had the game crash one me twice already.

Yeah, even though it is installed, I still get some 'unreadable disk' errors. Seems quite usual, though. Happens very rarely, and the utterly OCD Autosave system makes it much less of an irritant.

Classic is utterly demoralising, it seems. I think my Ironman run will be on easy. One thin man assault pretty much levelled me on Mission Two. Meeting an 'Arses! Sectopod! Fuuuuuuuudge!' (As they are known round these parts) would just be terrifying on any level other than easy.

I'm surprised you're all saying it's so buggy. I haven't had a problem with it. I wonder if, like Skyrim it's a hard drive/system type issue. I've put some serious hours into it and I haven't had a single bit of bother. Odd!

Got this the other day and have to say I'm a bit lost! Never played a tactical game before so obviously not played any of the previous ones. I'm only a few missions in so I'm hoping it'll all start to click!

It's a great remake, feels true to the feeling of the original and still has the same foot step noises when your guys walk over metal plates!

Still haven't managed to finish it, refuse to lower the difficulty though! 112 days is the longest I've managed to last.

Im just going through this on normal difficulty since it's the first tactical game I've ever played. Going to do it properly though and if somebody dies, they stay dead.... a lesson my British Dana Scully Sniper learned when she was shot in the face after i wasnt watching the train window I positioned her opposite.

i have this on the PC and its the first game that managed to get me away from Call of Duty in the last 3 years.
Its great. Im on my 3rd game after losing the other 2. So many gaming moments. You find yourself laying in bed thinking of better tactics after you elite squad has just been wiped out coz you messed up.
I soon learnt not to split up my squad but send them around together (helps take out the bigger guys earlier) and I was well chuffed to send a squad of rookies out with a couple of SHIVS (automated robots on with guns on tracks) and get them all back alive on a later mission.

Its a good sign of a good game when you get your arse kicked but enjoy it and still go back for more!!!

I never played the original but I'm loving this game. I had to restart it becuase I was simply gash and lost 6 countries in quick order as i was totally not prepared for the learning curve.
