Will definately get this at some point, looks superb - I love the ant farm look of the main base it's really special and something I've never seen before in gaming.

Not only does it look superb, it is superb! Until it goes tits up then its devastating, lost my sniper last night. Still in mourning.

I lost eighty percent of my team, after 25 missions on Ironman. Tears just don't cut it. The sole surviver was my sneaky Psi-Sniper with Ghost armour whom I have always hated. Thus a bloody restart. Can't have rookies against those bloody massive robot things. (The very cause of said eighty percent loss).

Sounds like they've kept it to the original dynamic of Laser Squad, which is a good thing. So, I may have to put the original asid to see what the remake is like...

I've been playing on classic and the longest I've last is 92 days, so not even seen those massive robot things. the sectoids and thin men are enough for an entire squad wipe.

Am new to the games. Have to say I'm really enjoying it. Not been on it a massive amount of time but I could easily see myself losing days on end to this game.

I made the mistake of having a bit of a blow out and buying Dishonored at the same time and so am kinda flitting between the pair. I need to pick one and stick with it (as well as finally complete Max Payne 3 - I'm a sucker for a new game)

This is the first 'remake' I've come across which genuinely feels like the original game all over again, only on a modern day system, it's awesome.

I'm happy they've stuck to the old formula - very hard to find any real gripes with it. If I was nitpicking

- I would prefer more of the game to take place in sleepy little suburbs, like it did in the original. I used to love creeping around a populated down, and looking for cover in houses etc. If the game has one shortfall, it isn't quite... atmospheric enough.
- Kneeling to increase accuracy is a bit of a miss
- Like with the original, the aliens seem to level with you - I would rather just have a mixture, even as you get more powerful, but the XCom games have always done it this way.
- The ability to have more than one Skyranger! Funding is so consistently low it's difficult to keep all of your nations happy, and it would be good to have multiple missions on the go at once.

Apart from that, it's bene worth the wait, and if they can get a sequel up and running... ah, happy days for gaming have returned.

Got the game today and am really enjoying it. The only problem is that it's quite buggy and I've had the game crash one me twice already.

Yeah, even though it is installed, I still get some 'unreadable disk' errors. Seems quite usual, though. Happens very rarely, and the utterly OCD Autosave system makes it much less of an irritant.

Classic is utterly demoralising, it seems. I think my Ironman run will be on easy. One thin man assault pretty much levelled me on Mission Two. Meeting an 'Arses! Sectopod! Fuuuuuuuudge!' (As they are known round these parts) would just be terrifying on any level other than easy.

I'm surprised you're all saying it's so buggy. I haven't had a problem with it. I wonder if, like Skyrim it's a hard drive/system type issue. I've put some serious hours into it and I haven't had a single bit of bother. Odd!

Got this the other day and have to say I'm a bit lost! Never played a tactical game before so obviously not played any of the previous ones. I'm only a few missions in so I'm hoping it'll all start to click!

It's a great remake, feels true to the feeling of the original and still has the same foot step noises when your guys walk over metal plates!

Still haven't managed to finish it, refuse to lower the difficulty though! 112 days is the longest I've managed to last.

Im just going through this on normal difficulty since it's the first tactical game I've ever played. Going to do it properly though and if somebody dies, they stay dead.... a lesson my British Dana Scully Sniper learned when she was shot in the face after i wasnt watching the train window I positioned her opposite.

i have this on the PC and its the first game that managed to get me away from Call of Duty in the last 3 years.
Its great. Im on my 3rd game after losing the other 2. So many gaming moments. You find yourself laying in bed thinking of better tactics after you elite squad has just been wiped out coz you messed up.
I soon learnt not to split up my squad but send them around together (helps take out the bigger guys earlier) and I was well chuffed to send a squad of rookies out with a couple of SHIVS (automated robots on with guns on tracks) and get them all back alive on a later mission.

Its a good sign of a good game when you get your arse kicked but enjoy it and still go back for more!!!

I never played the original but I'm loving this game. I had to restart it becuase I was simply gash and lost 6 countries in quick order as i was totally not prepared for the learning curve.

Made a start on this tonight. Only played about an hour, but I'm really liking it. This type of game isn't usually my cup of tea, but I can see this being an addictive sumbitch.

I hear they are in the process of making a new game set in the 60's called the Bureau. Apparently it is out in August.

If you play this on anything other than Ironman mode, you are a pussy.

Really like how they've simplified the in-mission mechanics without losing any of the tactical depth. If anything, the specialisms your men now gain just adds to this department (one of your heavies laying down suppresing fire whilst your assault team out-flanks and batters the alien buggers close up = aces). My only quip is - why just the six men on a mission now? Other than that, this is how not to do a Syndicate!

New York, NY – August 21, 2013 – 2K and Firaxis Games announced today that XCOM®: Enemy Within, the expanded experience of the Game of the Year* award-winning strategy title XCOM: Enemy Unknown, will be available in North America on November 12, 2013 and internationally on November 15, 2013 for Windows PC, Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Mac® (distributed by Feral Interactive).

XCOM: Enemy Within takes the incredible experience from XCOM: Enemy Unknown and adds an array of new abilities, upgrades, and weapons to combat new enemy threats. The expansion also provides players with all-new maps, tactical and strategic gameplay, and multiplayer content. There is no better way to experience XCOM than with the massive amount of new content added in XCOM: Enemy Within. Fans will experience an additional three to four playthroughs on average before encountering all of the new material included in XCOM: Enemy Within, providing nearly limitless replayability.

"The incredible critical and consumer response to XCOM: Enemy Unknown inspired us to offer new content that would deepen the strong bond that has been created for our XCOM brand," said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. "Firaxis Games is renowned for delivering massive, highly immersive PC expansions in the Civilization series, and XCOM: Enemy Within builds on that lineage and expands the experience for console gamers as well."

"We promised gamers that we would deliver the same Enemy Unknown experience on both PC and console last fall, and we're doing it again with Enemy Within," said Ananda Gupta, lead designer at Firaxis Games. "The Commander Edition of XCOM: Enemy Within expands the already amazing XCOM experience for our console fans who are looking forward to even more of the game they love. It's also a great point of entry for new fans just joining the XCOM fight."

XCOM: Enemy Within vastly improves upon the experience of XCOM: Enemy Unknown with an incredible amount of new content. On PC** and Mac**, XCOM: Enemy Within features additional content that can be enjoyed with previously purchased copies of XCOM: Enemy Unknown. XCOM: Enemy Within will also be available on Xbox 360 and PS3™ system as the XCOM: Enemy Within – Commander Edition** - a standalone pack that expands the XCOM: Enemy Unknown experience featuring the new XCOM: Enemy Within content and the add-on content that was previously released for XCOM: Enemy Unknown, including the Elite Soldier Pack and Slingshot Content Pack.

Key features for XCOM: Enemy Within will include:

New Soldier Abilities: Research a new alien technology to advance the capabilities of operatives:
Gene Mods: Construct the Genetics Lab to physically enhance operatives' abilities, including augmentations to the chest, brain, eyes, skin and legs.
MECs: Build the Cybernetics Lab to enable the construction of the new Mechanized Exoskeletal Cybersuit, or MEC. The new MEC Trooper class has specialized abilities and each suit can be upgraded with new weapons including the flamethrower, grenade launcher and more.
New Weapons and Equipment: Give operatives an extra tactical edge with new projects from the engineering team in the Foundry;
New Enemy Threats: Adopt new tactics to counter the threats from a host of new enemies, including the Mechtoid;
New Strategic Resource: A valuable new alien resource, known as Meld, has been discovered. Secure it on the battlefield and use it carefully back at base to unlock new research and upgrades;
New Tactical Challenges and Maps: Face new tactical challenges, on nearly 50% more maps;
New Multiplayer Maps, Units and Abilities: Create custom squad from a wider array of options and dominate opponents in intense, one-on-one, turn-based matches.
