Just read 2 & 3.

Really enjoyed Dark Phoenix, it has dated quite a lot in terms of art and story but was one of those comics i always wanted to read. I think I'm gonna pick up the Avengers V Xmen series off the back of this (I might go and get the first ones this afternoon).

Iron Man Extremis was very good, fantastic artwork. I was reading it and had assumed that it was post- movie so was surprised to see it was released before that. Its obvious the movies took a big slice of inspiration from this.

It was more violent than i expected, the teen girls beheading and Iron mans use of both palm repulsers being rather graphic.

looking forward to the next one.

I signed up on the 4 June 2011 (when it was a few pounds cheaper and they increased my subscription cost without telling me). On my account I have -

15/04/2012 card payment - thank you -19.98
31/03/2012 wham bag 0.00
31/03/2012 graphic novels 05 9.99
31/03/2012 graphic novels 06 9.99
11/03/2012 card payment - thank you -12.98
01/03/2012 outofstock letter 0.00
01/03/2012 graphic novels 01 2.99
01/03/2012 graphic novels 04 9.99
13/02/2012 pow mug 0.00
13/02/2012 hulk dvd 0.00
13/02/2012 graphic novels 02 0.00
13/02/2012 graphic novels 03 0.00

Only issues 1-4 have arrived. I called them as didn't receive issue 5 and 6 (although did receive the bag) and apparently they ran out of issues 5 and 6 before sending me my copies (even though they guaranteed it was first come first served and I signed up last year). Pretty annoyed with the service especially as they have charged me (and originally claimed to have posted) two issues which they have not actually sent me and could give me even a rough estimate as to when they would have more stock. Friends who are picking it up in the shop are already on issue 9. I wouldn't mind if they seemed to be making at least half an effort but I even had to chase them to receive a copy of issue 1 (I received issues 2 and 3 for free due to them pushing back the release from last summer to this spring).

I think I'd probably be better off cancelling subscription after reading all these comments. My local Forbidden Planet has every issue in stock so I could just buy them.

I would be tempted to do the same but my only options are the local independant comic shop and WH Smiths.

There's no guarantee that either shop will still have stock of an issue or even continue to get the title in so i'd rather not risk it.

There's also the fact that I 'like' my local comic shop on facebook and the owner seems to be a complete tool. Every day he posts stories about customers coming in and asking what he considers to be 'stupid' questions and mocks them for it. Surely the whole point of being independent is to educate and assist customers as that's the main appeal of the shop buying experience. He also posts editorials as to why we're all responsible for the (then) possible downfall of GAME and how everyone should shop on their highstreet more. Whilst I agree that we still need shops, he just can't compete with online prices. I'm never going to pay the full RRP for a copy of Invincible Ultimate Collection at 26 when I can buy it for 12 online, that would just be moronic.

Sorry, went off on one there - tl;dr - i'd rather stick with the subscription than support my local comic shop as he acts a bit of a bellend.

totally agree with you Chojin, I'm all for supporting shops that deserve it but it isnt a right.

I have a comics subscription with my local Travelling Man and I'm happy to support them. Great bunch of guys but if I could buy something for half the cost online then I would.

GAMEs downfall was their own making.

Unfortunately I've stopped collecting as I just can't afford it.

However, I'm still looking to pick up a few of the books from the collection (be it the standard print or from the GNC), so decided to have a look for the follow up to Ultimates: Superhuman. Am I right in thinking that the version released as part of this collection is only the first half of Superhuman?

No, Superhuman is only the first half of the first volume. You'll be looking for Homeland Security, which is volume 1 book 2.

Cheers.

I was looking at the collections as opposed to the different volumes.

cancelled my sub and picked up 4, 5 and 6 from local store.

Reading Ultimates right now, great so far. Anyone think its odd how Nick Fury is the double of Sam Jackson (and even says in the book how Samuel would play him in a movie) yet the book pre dates Iron Man by a good few years?

kinda life imitating art....

Ultimate Nick Fury was modelled on Jackson with his consent according to Wiki. Although I've also read elsewhere that there was no consent and as a settlement of sorts they promised him the role in any subsequent live action depictions of the character. As if they'd have been able to cast anyone else .

I hated Ultimates, the whole who would play who in a film bit was one of the most cringeworthy things I've read in a comic this year. Either that or Iron Man dating Shannon Elizabeth or Horny Hulk trying to rape Betty Ross.

What issues are people up to? I've still only received up to issue 7 so far.

I started at issue 1 and I've had my fill of being behind the curve. People who obviously signed up after me are getting better treatment, it's extremely infuriating.

Oh well, they'll arrive in due course I guess.

Quick question, if anyone can help? The Captain America - Winter Soldier that came with this collection has issues 8,9,11-14 in it. According to amazon this is volume 2 of the Winter Soldier story ( with vol 1 being issues 1-7). Have amazon got this correct and is vol 1 worth getting to get the full impact of the story. Amazon links below.

Vol 1

Vol 2

I'd recommend this - Captain America: Winter Soldier Ultimate Collection (CLICK)

It collects #1-9 and #11-#14 in one book and at a more affordable price. (#10 was a House of M tie-in which is why it's not reprinted in any of the collections). I think it does a real disservice to the story for it to have been reprinted in the manner it was by this graphic novel crowd!

I had a rant about that not too long ago!

I enjoyed the story from the Marvel Graphic Novel Collection, that i'm going to order the ultimate edition soon. And when I do, i'm going to burn my butchered copy!

Cheers guys. Turns out comixology had all the issues for 69p each so I downloaded 1-7 for iPad. Those alongside the graphic novel collection thing means i now have them all

Customer service for this company is disgusting. Been trying to get through to them all morning, they put you on hold for 10 mins then hang up on you.

Have you tried first thing in the Morning? I tried between 08:00AM and 08:30AM on a weekday Morning and both times I got straight through to someone with no waiting time.

This was about a month ago though....

Still waiting for issues 8 and 9.

If I had anywhere that stocked these near me I'd be phoning their customer service and telling them to fuck right off. I've yet to receive an order that I didn't have to chase up first.

I have 1, 2, 3, 4 and 7 I think. I subbed up a month late so it looks like I'm one of the last in the queue for everything. Bit pissed that shops are getting stock before subscribers though.

Are you sure its 11 or are you referring to 10 (X-Men Gifted). Because i know that was released last week and i picked up a copy today. But as far as i've been told issue 11 (Captain Britain) is not out yet.

Does anyone know if there are any sites where they have a listings of the release dates for each issue?

None 0871 number for anyone that ever needs to contact them.

020 7014 5750

Got told to expect my next delivery mid May so I'm going to wait until the 20th before contacting them again. Customer service is an utter mare with this company.

Hi all,

Not sure if anyone's done anything like this but I decided to do a timeline of what time period each book covers (or at least when the issues were released), to give an idea of what stories overlap or happen simultaneously etc.

For some reason I can't upload the image so I've put it up on a website here:

http://mgnctimeline.hostzi.com/

If this is something people want I'll update and repost as my issues come through.

Thanks.
