Anyway on the up side 2012 might be one of the only years in living momery where the Oscar goes to a deserving world cinema release.

Mmmm - I noticed Of Gods and Men was on the eligibility list

That film was overrated IMO, besides I thought it would have been eligible for 2011, not 2012. A Separation is a master piece and would a worthy winner.

Eligibility for Best Foreign Film is different to eligibility in all the other categories - I'd guess the US release was last year. Personally I'd rank it far above A Separation, but they won't be up against each other this year.

They are both eligible in the major categories, so if there was a huge upset they could compete in Best Film. But for foreign, Of Gods and Men was submitted last year and missed the cut. Uncle Boonmee is eligible in the major categories as well.

I must be blind, I checked and didn't see it on the eligibility list. Which isn't that great - it's not absolutely certain to be 10 films this year is it? Wonder if the poor quality is why.

I didn't know The Master was out this year. Definitly at the top of my list now.

Yeah, it's my most anticipated film of the year by a fair distance (which considering how much I'm looking forward to the other films on my list, is indicative of how excited/fanboyish I am).

Also possibly looking forward to Cosmopolis as I love DeLillo and I usually really like Cronenberg. However, I'm concerned somewhat because A) Cosmopolis is easily DeLillo's worst book and B) Robert Pattinson hasn't convinced me that he can carry a film on his own. Will wait and see what the reviews are like though.

Apparently I'm being informed that the new Ghost Rider film is in fact terrible. Which is a shame.

I will likely be adding Wettest County in the World and, possibly, Looper to my list I think.

So having thought about it Ive come to realise I dont like cinema or at least not a lot of it.

Actual Clock Watching

Coriolanus and Le Havre (made my list last year too)
The Muppets
Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists
Moonrise Kingdom
Hyde Park on Hudson
The Hobbit

Please Dont Suck
Brave
Stoker (is this a definite release for 2012?)
The Wettest County in the World Based solely on my enjoyment of the book.

I usually find that the best films are hardly on my radar right nowI will also probably go and see all the Prometheus, Dark Knights and Spiderman films, thanks to my Cineworld Card.

My Asian film site said it finished filming about 3 months ago and is down for release this year. Although it's release dates are per South Korea but you'd assume this one wouldn't see much of a gap to the US.

I'd have it in that category too given I've no idea if Miller can write and I have a definite idea that Goode is not the most impressive actor I've seen recently.

Gareth Evans' The Raid is looking pretty "sick", as I think the kids say nowadays.

Every time I hear the synopsis I just think Le Horde. So I'll probably enjoy it as it could never be that bad!

The French zombie film? Yeah, I didn't think it was bad, but it wasn't as much fun as it should have been.

At the moment i'm looking forward to these

The Pirates! Band of Misfits
Stoker (but my hopes aren't high
Le Havre
The Raid
This is Forty
War Horse (Awful trailer but the reviews have won me over)
Brave
Frankenweenie
Seven Psychopaths
Cogan's Trade
Into the Abyss
The Sitter
The Descendants
A Monster in Paris
Carnage
Carancho
Michael
Kotoko
Himizu
Wettest County (Slightly interested but the presence of Shia LaBeouf scares me)

I'll probably see it but not overly bothered to see The Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers will be terrible, Prometheus could go either way and i'll pass on another 3 hours of fucking hobbit's

I don't think it entirely worked but both leads were very good (or at least until the woman went all damsel in distress mode).

Lincoln, Lincoln, Lincoln, Lincoln, Lincoln.

The five films I am most looking forward to (in ascending order, natch). Every time I look at the cast list, I - well, I'm not a guy, but if I were I would probably be jizzing my pants or whatever.

It'll probably surface at festivals this year, but I predict it won't get an official release until January / February next year (awards season and all that).

Any chance of one of the bigger British festivals getting it this year I wonder? I probably would travel to see this if that were the case.

I'd say London is a good shout, but Edinburgh has absolutely no chance of getting it, or for that matter anything that'll be eagerly anticipated....even it's by a Scottish director.

A top 10 is the norm, but if you can't think of that many, or think 2012 is going to be such a stonking year, go ahead.

So far I don't have much of a list.

The Hobbit
Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists, or whatever they've changed it too.
Stoker

From last year I'd add Le Havre, This Must Be the Place and Amigo.

Already a bit of a result - thanks to the Glasgow Film Festival I now have tickets for Le Havre and This Must Be the Place. Hurrah!

Will add The Raid to this list. In fact as I've seen The Artist already I'll just make a swap. As for EX2 as its now been reduced to a PG13 I'm not anticipating that one so much anymore so I'll replace that with Django Unchained.

Some excellent choices there Spaldy and I concur 100%! Looks like we'll be putting our Cineworld passes through there paces.
