There weren't many, but the bits with Samuel L. Jackson were golden. Perhaps his second best performance behind Pulp Fiction. Fine performances all around with a fairly strong central story line.

Life on the New York streets for a 12 year old with no parental guidance, who divides his time between schoolwork and running drugs. As things threaten to pull him in even deeper, the kid figures out a way to get himself out. While we’ve been down this road often, and first time director Yakin’s inexperience with action plainly shows when it matters, “Fresh” scores the bulk of its points through the extraordinary performance of young Harris in the lead. In that department, the film truly is fresh.
