The Expendables....that cinema had such a wicked vibe while watching it!

The film you really wanted to see at the cinema but never got around to it? (and you happy/annoyed that you missed it)

Toy Story. I have since seen the 3D release but I was always gutted that I never saw it when it first came out.

Up. I have it on disc, and I love it, but it must have been truly wonderful on the big screen.

Annoyed I have never seen Back to the Future on its re-releases. More recently I wished I had seen Troll Hunter in the cinema.

Avatar. I would imagine it was awesome on the big screen. No idea how I didn't get round to seeing it.

The Artist and Up I saw on the big screen but yes I didn't see BTTF and Troll Hunter I also would have liked to have seen at the cinema.
The one that springs to mind for me is E.T had a bit of a film snob thing about it at the time but when i finally did see it I cried like a loon and adored it..

Lucky Day you had an escape not seeing Avatar in big screen I've never sat through a film and tried to look at my watch/phone for the time,as it sure did drag... argh when's it over ! sorry just me ..

sorry edit .. SQ

This is exactly what I did when watching it on TV (so underwhelmed was I by the whole affair that I couldn't even be arsed to get it on DVD)

The usual argument I get against it being shit is that I should have seen it at the cinema, and that it would have blown my mind.

As in the same Joel Schumacher who got a career best out of Michael Douglas in the incredible Falling Down? Then went onto achieve the same with Matthew McConaughey in A Time To Kill ? Hmmmmmmm.

And did you not say it had to be directors working today ? I don't know much but I do know Hitchcock isn't, for he is dead, I think this is also the case for Wilder. On reflection, the world might be better off if Nolan was dead.

Mine (assuming I can have anyone)

McTiernan, Spielberg, Scorsese, Zemeckis, Gilliam, Scott (Tony). My 0.5 is Nolan.

Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson, Nick Park, Pete Docter and Ridley Scott. I can't think of one for the 0.5.

Pedro Almodovar, Coen Brothers, Martin Scorsese, Mike Leigh, Wes Anderson, Alfonso Cuaron.
As for the 0.5, I can't really separate Cameron, Nolan and Tarantino, so I'll lump them all in together. In fact, I'd rate them 0.0
