Looks like I'll have to start thinking up a really rude blurb for Black Swan.

Either that or assign myself an anti-vote/veto

If Black Swan wins, I'm going to weep big fat tears of sadness.

I con.quer as the Lenny form The Simpsons would say.

The only thing I regret of 2011 was my personal score of Black Swan as a 4, when it's a 3.

It's such a 3.

Your mother's a 3

Looking down peoples' list makes for an inspiration for 2012 viewing.  I need to see A Separation, Senna, Bobby Fischer,  Midnight in Paris, Poetry, Hugo (I still haven't seen effing Hugo!), Troll Hunter, Incendies, Le Quattro Volte, Arietty, and Transformers 3*.

*I'm oooooonly messing...I don't want to see Arietty.

Is that the sequel?

But yes sir, have one of these...

My film of the year, it blew me away; doesn't really get much chat, certainly not in regard to the film of the year; got a mauling from fusty non-creative no-marks in BBC Four's World Cinema Awards... I just think it has that vivid cinematic streak akin to something like A Clockwork Orange; largely superficial yes, but with an amusing gamesmanship between film maker and viewer, with a crucially benign element that persistently makes the viewer change how they feel about character and characters.

It's beezer.

I really like the way it goes through about 17 different genres in the course of the film.

After a successful first cinema visit to Arthur Christmas for the wee man, from next year I might actually be able to submit a list that doesn't consist of 20[insert year here] films released on DVD. It will probably be all children's films though.

They're always the best though. None of that sex and violence stuff.

5. Hereafter
6. Ironclad
7. Blue Valentine

I just don't have 10. I didn't make any special effort to watch any year. I doubt Cherry was 2011. It would go at #4.

Some damn good entries here. Shame you put Melancholia so high, one of the worst I've seen this year.

I like Animal Kingdom as well. But I'm going to ignore the last line 'cos it's not actually in the list and it would mean I Saw the Devil dropping off!

When's the deadline for this?

Should be interesting seeing how the list ends up, I think it has been a very good year, much better than 2010 which did flatter to decieve.

Normally around the middle of January - I'll give about a weeks warning and see if that's seems OK with everyone.

I've watched The Skin I Live In, Get Low, Arthur Christmas, TinTin, Incendies and Bobby Fischer in the last week so I'll have to update my list. But not before I've watched Melancholia, Poetry and Hugo.
