Pretty pleaed to get through to the next round, even better it's against Huddersfield who have conceded 8 against us already this season. About 1500 Burton Albion fans made the short trip. Whether they were expecting to dump us out of another cup after already beating us 4-2 in the Carling/Capital/Coca-Cola Cup I don't know, but it was never going to happen. I love Round 3 weekend. I think the magic might be lost for a few Premeriship clubs, but it's not in the leagues below. The BA fans on Saturday were in good voice, despite going behind after 2 minutes and never really looking in the game. I was quite impressed with a little winger they had and some great lump of a centre froward (Calvin Zola) who had a nice touch and tried to cause us some trouble (although to be fair Wes Morgan was masterful yet again) I saw an article yesterday regarding the declining attendances at FA Cup games. Leicester were down 36% themselves, with about 14,500 at the game instead of the usual 23+ (I think the bigegest drop in numbers was at the Charlton match - shame on you Goodfella - down 65% or something) I don't think is a lack of interest in the FA Cup, I think the cost of football and the financial times we are in doens't help. I know guys at work who take their wives and 2 kids for what is pretty much a £100 day out. Just after Christmas doesn't help either. Thankfully, for season ticket holders, Leicester charged £10 on Saturday. I think they pre-empted the lack of interest anyway as they only opened 2 stands, although this added to the atmosphere as everyone was in together. As for FA Cup upsets, I don't really think there were many at all. Luton beating Wolves was hardly an upset (Wolves being shit and lacking in confidence) and I really take offence when the press had a field day with Brighton beating Newcastle. Personally, I thought that was a home banker. A confident, hard-working Championship side beating an out-of-sorts (shit) Newcastle side. The Macc lads beating Cardiff (the Welsh side who shouldn't even be in the FA Cup) was probably the shock for me, but other than that, it was as-you-were for me.
