Looked to me like he got the ball. Poor.

Oh and I think there will be an "upset" at the Chelsea game.

I thought when it happened it was a good challenge, took the ball and made minimal contact with the player. Replays haven't changed my mind. At worst it was a free kick, a red card is bloody ridiculous.

Luckily 10 man City chasing a goal against 11 man Utd is actually still a fair contest

I agree with practically everyone except Rooney who didn't think it was a sending off, I don't think the ref was even going to give a yellow at first. There have been some terrible straight reds this year for what even 3 years ago would have been called perfect tackles. The Rodwell and Rio ones springing to mind most easily.

Fucking awful refereeing. Was from the front, not reckless, got the ball. Potentially ruined a great game of football.

You jest but I believed that until the second goal, Silva and Agüero are a ridiculous duo.

It was probably tongue in cheek rather than a jest. I was of the same opinion. Fantastic finish by Wellbeck. But the biggest thing for me is that de Jong bottled it. Don't know if that was a knock-on from the sending off, that he didn't want to put his foot up for fear of giving away a pen, but very unusual to see him shy away from a 50:50.

Good cup game that I can't believe is over yet. EDIT penalty it could be all over in a minute or so

Think they'll go for the 6 now to make a point

I seriously can't watch City win this 4-3 now. United are way too lax at the back atm.

I agree that the red card decision was completely wrong and now the ref's been forced to pussyfoot around favouring United in fear ob bias accusations. The challenge on Valencia 5 minutes ago was a penalty and the ref cowarded out of it.

I just think the ref has consistently made bad decisions all the way through the game. Luckily its a cracking cup game. I'll be happy for City to get another and see these two go toe-to-toe again.

I don't believe that Kompany deserved a red card but in this day and age when you go in with two feet off the ground most refs will go for a straight red, no matter how much of the ball they make contact with.

Thought that was a psychological victory for Man City who were absolutely magnificent - hats off to Mancini for not shutting up shop in the second half and risking a real thrashing.

The sending off was pure bollocks but probably made for a way more exciting match.

One of the best games I've seen for a while that was

Its bizarre. Its like watching MUTV or Chelsea TV. I'm glad I'm not a Sunderland fan. As I'm not I find it faintly endearing and is encouraging me to actually watch the game when I feel I should be doing something more productive like watching Juve (who aren't playing as well as they were before against Xmas) hang on against Lecce.

So far it's the best commentary ever on ITV.
