Keeping to topic is a forum rule. Reviews and discussions of films in that detail can be done in the appropriate and existing film review thread or, perhaps more relevant here, Favourite Films. This is the Movie News subforum - not a general chat or review area.

As you are a moderator, I am requesting you to kindly explain to me on what basis and on which forum rules is it an issue to:

discuss the broader trilogy of films concerning the film currently in discussion.

If you do not refer to specific official forum rules, and precisely how I am in breach of them then I will choose
to recognise your comments as an act of internet bullying. At which point,I will contact the forum official and present the case.

Main site rules can be found in the Empire Online subforum. Further guidance on the use of sub-forums can be found stickied in Movie Musings.

Site practice, as guided by Empire, is for relevant discussion to go to the relevant sub-forum. E.g. threads that are essentially reviews in Musings will be either moved to Favourite Films OR if there is an existing thread a request will be made that the detailed discussion move there. If you look at the smilies Empire provided, it includes a polite little off-topic smilie for that purpose.

Favourite films was created just to provide a place in the forum where users could discuss films in some depth, away from the Film Review threads., which can often be quite bitty as that sub-forum, unlike Favourite Films, is linked to the main site and you get a lot of drive bys.

If, however, on the base of a multi-page religious discussion that went off-topic pages back and should have gone on in Musings and/or Off-Topic you think you want to re-write forum rules and practice, feel free to try James Dyer. You can normally find his ID in the Ipad subforum and use that to PM or e-mail him.

Thank you elab49, I have found and reviewed the rules. However, I found nothing about staying on topic to the increment described by Funkyrae the moderator.

Perhaps what Funkyrae seems to be enforcing is something from the guidance on sub-forums. Therefore, dare I say, not a rule as such, more specifically guidance.

On the same token though, as for the multi-page religious discussion is this really the right forum to be discussing that? You could have given me or anyone else who perpetuated that discussion this advice much earlier in that forum. Perhaps page 2 or 3. I know Funkyrae was in there quite early.

 Ahh so it's a personal problem with me asking you to not take something off topic and to keep a film discussion where it should be.

By all means, accuse me of bullying and take it up with James Dyer.

In the meanwhile, two moderators have now asked you to not drag this any further off topic so kindly please follow the original request and not choose which of the Empire forum rules you wish to follow and which you don't.

I'm really excited about the Dark Knight Rises. I'm particularly interested to see where it takes off from ___ ____ ______.
The entire _______ has been really interesting. I can't believe that it is being set 8 years after the events of ___ ____ ______.
I wonder what Bruce Wayne did during those 8 years between ___ ____ ______ and this latest film of which it is appropriate to
discuss in this forum. Chris Nolan has grown as a director since he wrote and directed _______, on that note I am excited to
see what strengths he brings to The Dark Knight Rises.
