OK its (already) Saturday night here and the free-to-air TV stations are showing films I already own - Troy, X-Men: The Last Stand, Happy Feet and Terminator Salvation. Strictly speaking, I'm not one to complain (too much), but it does make me a little bothered this has happened.

Have you had a similar night as mine (maybe it was a Saturday?), and how did you spend it?

It doesn't bother me. I like to make sure that the films I like to watch are uncensored and shown in their correct ratio without commercials.

best to watch on bbc2/c4/film4 if you want to watch in the original ratio.

It's pretty much inevitable in this day and age with films coming to dvd / blu ray so quickly after release, gone are the days when films on the televsison took years to come on at Christmas for example, then it was event, now it's part of every day life.

I only extremely rarely purchase DVD's. I have a collection of a handful of my very favourite movies.

I usually just rent them, so this is an issue that doesnt really affect me.

I have Sky. Two of these channels aren't HD and the other one has ad breaks. I have a projector and when it comes to films I watch anything HD unless its not available to watch like that.
