 Dead Man's Shoes **** (seen it at the cinema about a year ago, got it cheap on DVD this week, great stuff).

 Saw Night Watch at the cinema today. I'd give it 3/5 - the trailers heightened my expectations, and I have to say I was a little disappointed. Decent effects and a fun and exciting story (if a little confusing at times), but the ending was rubbish to say the least.

 Serenity. Absolutely awesome. A masterclass.

I urge every single one of the members on the forum to go and see it. Even blew me away and left me shocked to how good it was and I'm a Browncoat (Firefly fan). Go see.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban: wonderful, visual pure magic, dark,... the best film in the serie so far.

Once Upon A Time In The West - 5/5. Amazing as always.

Hopefully see Sin City tonight. Not that I'm a prude, but more out of curiosity, how violent is the film? Heard bits and pieces, is the violence shown full on, or is it more implied i.e. like the ear scene in Reservoir Dogs?

I watched Memento for the first time the night before Saw and it quickly became one of my faves! 5/5

 Today I went to see Night Watch, and I really enjoyed it. I have said my piece about it in Film Reviews, as there is one particular part of that I wasn't too happy with. I would give it 8/10 overall, it was slick and highly enjoyable.

Going into the cinema though, I had the following exchange with the goon checking the tickets:

Goon looks at ticket
Goon: Oh, I've heard this is meant to be really good.
Me: Yep, that's what I've heard too.
Goon: Yeah, I must get round to seeing it, heard it's great.
Me: Mmmmm.
Goon: Do you know if it's anything like Blade?
Me: Well, I don't know. I haven't seen it yet....

 Mad Max (1979)

I'd seen this one quite a few times before, but never "properly". On video, I had to put up with the crap American dubbing, pan & scan and a few trims from those lovely people at the BBFC. On DVD, they weren't an issue. The original Australian dialogue track sounds a hell of a lot more natural which in turn improves the performances, especially Hugh Keays-Byrne as The Toecutter who is no longer burdened with a cartoonish Marlboro growl. The action sequences on those impossibly-wide roads remain as kinetic and thrilling as ever: it was nice to see them in their intended widescreen format. In short, a film I really liked just got better.

And I want one of those V8 Interceptors.
